jgraziano Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 It would be nice to be able to apply a filter to the program summary to display only the programs relevant to what you are looking for or doing. Obviously, one filter would be 'all', as it is now, then you could set up filters for certain rooms, functions, time ranges, whatever you may use fairly frequently, and choose which programs are displayed by those filters. Easier than looking at a list of a couple hundred programs, even if they are sorted alphabetically, since sometimes I forget what I called it!
Algorithm Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 It would be nice to be able to apply a filter to the program summary to display only the programs relevant to what you are looking for or doing. Excellent idea. I've been working on a program-group and wishing for that very feature.
Michel Kohanim Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 jgraziano, Thanks so very much. I do like the idea as well and have added it to the liste of our enhancements. With kind regards, Michel
Chris Jahn Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 You can sort the program summary on any column, so for now, you could group your programs (even if only temporarily) into different folders and sort on the folder column. As for adding filters, please post more detailed input as to what criteria you would want for the filter.
jgraziano Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 Hi Chris, Yes I do that now and it does help. My thinking is to just have a filter that applies to the program name. When that filter is applied only those programs and their associated information show up in the program summary. Theoretically I guess the steps would be: Add new filter (example: Sunset Programs) Add programs to filter; You would then highlight each program in the summary that you want to add (the ones that run at sunset presumably) and do 'add to sunset program filter', either by right clicking or using the drop down or something like that. Then 'Apply Filter'. The program summary would only display the programs you have selected in step 2 above. Is that what you're looking for? Does it make sense? The second biggest thing I'd like to see in terms of display functionality is indicating disabled programs in the program tree, either with a red 'x' icon or changing their color or something. Now that I think about it, some good pre-defined filters would be enabled or disabled programs, programs which are true/false, etc. But in that case, sorting on that column does work pretty well. Thanks!
drw Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 The sorting previously discussed would be fine. Another suggestion that I would make is to sort on the column heading that is clicked (alternate clicks would get you ascending or descending sorting). This is a typical behavior of many programs. In fact, in the Main tab clicking on columns (name, status, address, type) already has this behavior. But I would be happy with any type of sorting capability.

That is already implemented. Mine wasn't working, I think I had to update my Java.
Stowaway Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I made a search through the product requests but did not find this desire! This topic was as close as I could find. I would like a program summary which is sorted by device. It would make it a little easier to check the programs to see what I am missing or more importantly if I have conflicting programs running on the same device. Thanks

Thought I would check to see if there is any further thought on this? My challenge is finding conflicting programs impacting how a device functions. I am certainly open to other approaches!!
Michel Kohanim Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Hi Jim, Is the Find/Replace function not a workaround for this? Stowaway Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Yes Michel I am using the Find/Replace function, I am just looking for an better way to deal with the conflicts that I create when I come up with ideas to fix other automation needs. I just think it would be great if we had a tool with the admin console to alert us as we add a new program that is at odds with another program. I did not say this was easy OR important with everything else that you are trying to do!!!! Hi Jim, Is the Find/Replace function not a workaround for this?
