Synchrolinc Linking Problems

Thanks for the fast analysis of the problem.

At least we know why it is not 100% functional.

Another i2 Quirk.

You didn't write the i2 protocol Smartlabs did and you would think they could get it correct.

Side note. I am not sure if the SynchroLinc can be both a responder and controller, but when I added it. The side tree for it showed both Is a Controller of and Is a Responder to.

Brian H,

Could you please confirm for me if the SynchroLinc can be enrolled with both Controller / Responders? :?: I dropped the hammer finally and purchased one of these along with quite a few random dual band devices to complete the next phase of my system.

Also, could you provide some feed back about how you're using the SynchroLink and any pro's and con's you have encountered since deploying it in your Insteon network system.

Lastly, I don't recall if you purchased the iMeter. If so did you ever do a review of the device if you did could you link me to the article.

As always I thank you for your insight and feed-back.

Teken . . .

Yes I have both a SynchroLinc and an iMeterSolo.

Both are sitting in their boxes unused.

UDI fixed the enrollment problem a long time ago. I just didn't get any motivation to try them.

I added the SynchroLinc as a test and it shows. Both the Is Controller For and the Is Responder To entries.

Along with the options tab to set trip points and dead band before toggling an On or Off as the current changed.

The device address 18.7E.EA is not responding to any command. Double check Insteon address label. If address is correct move the SynchroLinc to where the PLM is plugged and try again. It could be interference at the current plug point or perhaps a surge suppressor is involved.

Also there are many IR interrupts occurring. I don't think they interfered with the device add process but they should be held up while adding devices.

Thanks

I have tried several outlets, and the result is the same. I did manage to get it to show up once, but it never fully worked, so I removed it to try again.

It is possible to disable he IR - I am currently not using it. It is likely coming from an LED close by

Any other ideas - do you think the unit may have gone bad?

The next thing to try is to Factory reset the SynchroLinc, plug it in at the PLM and try again. Suggest running the Event Viewer with Device communications events selected as you did before. Let’s be sure the same situation after the factory reset.

I would put a piece of opaque tape over the IR opening.

What ISY firmware is being used. More for general information as I don't know of any issues linking the SynchroLinc with any of the ISY firmware.

The first version that supported the SynchroLinc had issues and I had to wait for a later release to correct things.

I don't remember the exact revision numbers.

It was an Adding to the system problem.
