dpeterson4ca Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Bought my ISY-26 in May and had best intentions to replace my HouseLinc setup the next week, but... now I have a little time during the holidays, although I'm a little concerned about what to do first? Don't know if PLM and ISY-26 are latest revs? Can you upgrade the firmware in one shot to the lastest? I suspect there is a logical sequence to follow, but... Any guidance to get a noob started would be appreciated. Thanks! Dave Quote
aLf Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 The absolute 1st thing is to upgrade the PLM. Then, or at the same time, upgerade to ISY vr. 2.6. Then make sure to spider the netire network and involve every Insteon item so that ISY knows all the equipment by name. Then sit back and enjoy the ease that your investment has brought. You will soon find that this is by far the best Insteon related piece in your home automation. aLf Quote

You can try asking for a replacement , but may not get one from them. As far as I know, you will want Firm61 or later for the PLM. The firmware upgrade for the ISY (2.6) is on the UDI website. Please be certain to get that and upgrade the ISY before you start any programming. Best wishes, Quote
Sub-Routine Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Some of the earliest ISY's shipped from Smarthome had an incompatible modem. By May that should have been resolved. You can try what you have. Plug it in. Wait for the light show to end. Try it out. The ISY should display a message to install the 2.6 update once it gets settled in. Wait some more. Set your location and time in Config. Add a few devices and experiment. Read the User Guide and the Wiki. If you have a question that hasn't been answered yet, ask away. Have Fun. Rand Quote
AnthemAVM Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 As a new user to ISY26, I would READ the manual and print it out. Quote
