Setup problems ISY-99i / Insteon 2413S

I’m running into some issues with my subject setup. I am moving from HouseLinc2 but want to move up to the ISY-99i. When I attempt to add a device in the ISY99, using any of the three available options, nothing happens (I’ve waited up to 20 minutes). When I close Admin I get errors noted in the Java panel, (copied below). But when I reopen Admin, the device now appears but there is no status and it cannot be queried. Only the on/off functions appear to work. If I try to delete the device, the same events occur as when I attempted to add them, i.e. nothing happens, Java errors on closing, but device is gone when Admin is reopened. Yesterday, when I clicked the “all on†and “all off†buttons, the previously loaded devices responded even though they had been deleted. That does not seem to be happening today (the ISY99 and PLM were unplugged over night).

I am getting the same results on two different PCs both running Windows XP SP3 and using Firefox and EI on both. I deleted the Java cache several times.

The HouseLinc2 program is shut down and its USB PLM unplugged. However, I forgot to unplug it on the initial setup of the ISY99, so I’m now wondering if it messed up something at the beginning. I did perform a factory reset of the ISY99 but am still getting the same results.

There seems to be slightly different variations to the Java error dumps, but here is one of them:

Hi wingnut,

I think the problem is related to your firewall the resolution to most of which can be found here:

http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewforum.php?f=3

In short, please make sure your ISY is in the trusted zone/white list in your firewall software.

If you are still having problems, please do not hesitate to contact our tech support and we'll figure it out for you.

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks, Michel !!!!

You were correct on the anti-virus suspicion... it was Kaspersky, which I did not realize that it had its own firewall. I white listed my local URL and the 99i has come alive!

Wingnut
