I have used the buttons of a keypadlink as bit switches. The keypadlink failed but the "switches" still work as they are both controlled and interrogated through the programming. Is this a reliable mechanism. the KPL which was a viable device when it was first linked is for all practical purposes now a virtual device as the physical device does not function.

 

I am anxious to install the latest version with state variables which will fulfill the function now being handled by the virtual KPL, but I am still curious about the viability of using a virtual KPL as a collection of bit switches. :?:
