Sub-Routine Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Received my new RemoteLinc yesterday. I used the Add ControLinc menu item and the RL is linked to the PLM, although with only 5 scenes available. However, I cannot add the RL to any scenes using the ISY. Is the RemoteLinc that different from a ControLinc, or am I doing something wrong? Rand Insteon_UD v.2.3
Mark Sanctuary Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 No it is very much like a controlinc, the issue is the ISY has not had that device added yet. So you can use it with the first five scenes until they get it added to the device database.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Mark, You are correct. Each device in ISY is identified by its cat/sub-cat ... although remotelink/controlinc are pretty much the same but since we still haven't incorporated RemoteLinc in ISY, thus you won't be able to do anything with it. RemoteLinc will be supported in our next release. With regards, Michel No it is very much like a controlinc, the issue is the ISY has not had that device added yet. So you can use it with the first five scenes until they get it added to the device database.
Sub-Routine Posted July 15, 2007 Author Posted July 15, 2007 Thank you for the update Michel. I have set up triggers to respond to four of the five recognized RemoteLinc buttons. I actually went back in time and tap-linked the other two buttons Rand
Sub-Routine Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 Okay! Alright! WhooHoo!!! I read on another forum that the RemoteLinc can be put into 'communication' mode. Hold the Bright and Dim buttons for 10 seconds. The LED will begin to flash. You now have 4 minutes to make links. Press any button to exit. I used the ISY to add the RL (configured as a ControLinc) to five scenes. Four minutes timed out before the ISY finished writing the first two scenes (7 devices in each scene) so I quit and restarted the 'communication' mode for each scene after that. Good to go for buttons 1-5 Michel, since the RemoteLinc appears (it looks easy from here) to be so similar to the ControLinc, would there be any chance of a 2.3.1 release? Thank you and keep up the good work! Rand
Michel Kohanim Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Rand, Excellent! Yes, there's a chance as long as the release is a little more meaningful than just a RemoteLinc release. Let me see what else we can include in it. Thanks so very much for your continued support, With kind regards, Michel Okay! Alright! WhooHoo!!! Sub-Routine Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 Just a RemoteLinc? Sacre Bleu! Didn't you have a few upgrade install bugs to fix? I'm sure you can find some excuse We have been asking for a year for the remote. So far it seems reliable and stable so it is a good thing. A very good thing. A bit ugly, but it makes sense to my fat fingers. The AccessPoints seem every bit as reliable as the SignaLincs. I must admit I believe SmartLabs has a Good Thing with the RemoteLinc I hope they can keep up the good work. Rand
Michel Kohanim Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Rand, I am sure I can find some excuses as well ... please give us a week to come up with more excuses! I believe RemoteLinc is a good thing as well. How I wished they would implement an Insteon Thermostat and motion detector as well! Thanks so very much, With regards, Michel Just a RemoteLinc?
