internet access fails after a few weeks

Featured Replies

I have an isy99 system, and have it set up for internet access. Self-signed certificate. Current software. After I leave my house, the internet access works for a few weeks, and then hangs. No response from the https: address. Tried several computers. This has happened every time, although the delay seems variable. I know the system is working, and the internet up, because it is still sending me temperature alerts from my system. Any ideas?

It seems unlikely that is the problem, as if I go back to the house, and log in locally, I get the same https address I had before. And it starts working remotely again.

John

I believe I have the same problem, and have never gotten ambitous enough to figure it out.

I enable internet access through the admin panel (I have never made any attempt to handle through the router settings). I get a pop-up showing internet (LAN and WAN) addresses. At this point, I can access from android cell phone, both using web browser and conductor app. Sometime later (usually days or weeks), with no changes made by me, I can no longer access the ISY from my android cell phone, using either the web browser of conductor app.

At that point, I can go in, disable, then re-enable internet access. It gives me another pop-up window showing the same addresses as before. Access via android cell phone is restored again, for a period of time, after which it stops, and the cycle repeats.

Perhaps I am having the same issue as you.

John and oberkc,

Please note that when you do File | Enable Internet Access, ISY uses UPnP to configure the router. The main point with UPnP configuration is that it's volatile: if your router reboots, then it will lose the port mapping.

For reliability, it's best to configure port forwarding manually.

John, I am not sure whether or not you are using File | Enable Internet Access ... if you are, it's best to do manual port forwarding.

With kind regards,

Michel

The main point with UPnP configuration is that it's volatile: if your router reboots, then it will lose the port mapping.

My router is on a UPS, but I suppose that does not guarantee rebooting. I will look further into manual configuration.

I believe one of my problems turned out that another network device (netgear stora) was also using port 443. I changed the ISY port to 555, and set the port forwarding the same. This seems to work, for now. I am no longer using the "enable internet access" option from the admin panel.

What is the best utility to use to check for Port conflicts in Windows 7 (64bit)?

I have no recommendations on utilities. I began to suspect my port conflict when I tried to remotely log into my ISY and got the stora instead.

So far, so good.
