rgn2000 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 My notifications have worked flawlessly until about 2 days ago. I haven't changed any settings, but here's what I have. Under Emails/Notifications I have my Verizon phone setup as xxxxxxxx@vtext.com and setup as regular mail. I also have a gmail account setup (also set up as regular mail since both have to be setup the same way), but I haven't been using. I did switch one of my programs to utilize that account and it still didn't work. Also for SMTP settings, I have "Use Default" set. Any ideas on what it could be?
Michel Kohanim Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Hello rgn2000, Please note that our default SMTP server might impose monthly limits. As such, it's best to use your own SMTP settings. If you have a gmail account, you can make sure POP/SMTP is enabled and then use the following settings: 1. Server = smtp.gmail.com 2. Port = 587 3. Userid = Your email address 4. Password = Your gmail password 5. Timeout = 1000 (or more) 6. TLS = Checked With kind regards, Michel

It is only the middle of the month, and I haven't had anymore traffic than usual, but I will try this.
LeeG Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 rgn2000 It is not your specific traffic but the combined traffic of all ISY users that exceeded the monthly limit for gmail. Likely the result of someone testing a bad configuration as the address used was gmail.colm (from another topic). Lee
rgn2000 Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 I didn't make your changes yet, but interestingly enough the notifications started back up. Very strange. I didn't reboot anything, not my router, modem, or the isy99. Thanks for you help, I will keep the info handy if it ever happens again.
LeeG Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 UDI was able to reactivate the gmail account that serves as the default mail handler. It is better to use your ISP mail server as that would not be exposed to the max message cutoff that just happened.
