I used the linking feature to add about 100 devices to ISY-99i. They are all named with their INSTEON address. If I right-click and rename one to a more informative name, this seems to cause a chain reaction of renames across the list which makes the process very slow.

Why if I am simply changing the name for one device does so many writes occur?

Hi Rick,

 

It all depends on what device you are renaming. For instance, for KeypadLincs, there are multiple nodes (buttons) which may be renamed if you so choose (depending on the option you choose). You can always choose the option that renames that specific node.

 

To see the hierarchy of nodes, right mouse click on a node and choose Group devices (if the menu item presents itself).
