XML Parse errors?

Featured Replies

I've had the ISY-99i for a couple months now and it seems to work pretty good aside from the fact that I can't connect to it a lot of the time. I try to connect via the web browser and I get "XML Parse Error http://192.168.1.8/desc". If I go and unplug the ISY and plug it back in it works fine but that's really unacceptable.

I'm trying to access the ISY on a Windows Vista machine using IE8, Opera browser and Google Chrome and also use Conductor for my Android phone and none of these work until I reboot the ISY.

I really hope this is something simple as I am not a programmer nor do I wish to be one.

Thanks

Hi munch,

What is your ISY's firmware version?

Also, please do look at the Tools | Erorr Log and let me know if you see any connection/network errors.

And, finally, when this happens, do your programs continue to run?

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel, thanks for the quick reply!

Firmware is 2.8.16

Programs DO continue to run.

The error log I pulled started with - Thu 2011/12/01 03:00:45 AM System -100 [DHCP] state=RENEW

Then repeated that twice every 10 seconds until this morning at 7am it changed RENEW to REBIND and then kept logging it twice every ten seconds until I rebooted it.

I do have an IP assigned to my ISY in my router and did update the firmware on my router after my first post.

Hi munch,

Thank you. This is a combination of issues relating to the way NetGear (or similar) routers manage DHCP reservation and how 2.8.16 responds to those anomalies.

If you don't mind, please upgrade to 3.1.13 which includes workarounds for these types of situations.

With kind regards,

Michel

I'll try the firmware upgrade and keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the help!

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been having similar symptoms since setting up my NetGear WNDR3400.

After reading this thread I updated my ISY99 to 3.1.13 but the error log still shows

"System -100 [DHCP] state=RENEW" every 5 seconds for about 9 hours while I was at work then it started logging

"System -100 [DHCP] state=REBIND" every 5 seconds about 5 minutes before I logged in to the Java App.

I had no problem logging in but its still logging "System -100 [DHCP] state=REBIND" every 5 seconds.

Hi nickoonce,

This problem is due to the firmawre in the NetGear router if you have DHCP reservations. Can you tell me if you have DHCP reservation in your router for your ISY?

Wtih kind regards,

Michel

Yes I am using Address Reservation and I have the latest router firmware.

Hi nickoonce,

There lies the problem. I do not think your router's new firmware has fixed the issue with reservations. You basically have two choices:

1. Use static IP address for ISY

2. Use DHCP without reservation

With kind regards,

Michel
