Elk Module

I am surprised that the Elk module is $99. That seems really high to me. Guess I should have bought it at the discount when it was in beta. Not going to buy it at $99.

Why don't you compare the programming capabilities of the Elk module versus Elk rules. If you don't see any value in that then you maybe you don't need the module. I would pay $200 for it too. The responsiveness of zone triggered scenes is faster than elk, you can do more easily compared to the elk, more programming space... need I go on? But if you need to toggle one light on and off at sunset then stick with your elk, provided there's any room left to program on it.

I am! I love the module! I would have paid 200 for it also. So many things you can do with the module that the elk alone can't do.

+1 here, and I think the module was well worth the wait. I could keep gushing about this thing, but I'd think my wife would get jealous. Just ponder over to cocoontech.com and read the millions of posts of trying to setup email with elk, or the fact that duration rules only toggle insteon on/off states in elk. The fact is: here we have a developer excited and willing to develop. Couple that with lightweight but powerful hardware, and I am a fan for life. Just as I begin to imagine what I wish I could do with my HA setup, the ISY team is there making it happen. + if Michael needs a side job come see me. I only wish the face of my company were as professional or detailed oriented as him.

iostream212,

Thanks so very much for the vote of confidence and I must say that I can take zero credit for the ELK Module: it was all dreamed, imagined, designed, and implemented by Chris.

Applying your signature to my feelings: "I want to be Chris" !

Thanks again and with kind regards,

Michel

I think the Elk Module is well worth it when you consider the time and development it must take to produce it and the expanded capability it provides. I gladly paid it to support continued development and support. It is probably a fairly low volume item too which would drive up the cost. Think of how much components from a Crestron system costs. The Elk module is about half of one hour of a Crestron technician programming charge.

I would like to express a thanks and well done.
