Search restriction...

Hi,

I entered "+keypadlinc +button +control +scene" and selected "find all terms" in the search box and it told me the search contained all too common words so it wouldn't run it.

I don't know how to add any more to my request to make it more unique. Is there a setting you can change to lower the requirement for uniqueness when searching the forum. I've had this come up a lot recently when entering 3 or 4 reasonably descriptive terms.

I'm having the same problem. Major words i want to search on can't be searched on. I assume that php has seen those terms so often that they've been added to an ignore list. Trouble is, those words are key to us finding what we are looking for.

Try the search that swbrains mentioned, i.e. "keypadlinc button control scene,". i get no results because all those terms are ignored.

Here's another example: if i search for "plm access point bridge", the only thing it searches for is "bridge". which returns 308 results and very few of those provide what I'm looking for.

Great product and support by the way. Just got my 1st ISY last week; wish i had bought it years ago!

Did a little research on this, and it appears that there's a setting (Common Word threshold) that could be adjusted, then the index rebuilt, to alleviate the issue.

What isn't clear from that thread is whether raising or lowering the default from '5' is the right way to go, but it appears that setting that value to '0' disables the use of 'common' words. Another issue would be how long it takes to rebuild the index.

The search engine has become nearly unusable IMO. I would vote for turning the common word feature off.

Thanks. The search is much more usable. However, it looks like the index rebuild stopped somewhere in Nov 2007. So I'm finding results for posts prior to sometime around the middle of Nov, and all new posts since Jan 16, 2012. But nothing in between.
