ahwman Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I just received my ISY-99i and I love it. My only gripe is that the LED's are blinding especially since the unit sits directly in view from my bed. Is there any way to adjust the brightness? I wonder why they chose such high intensity LED's...
LeeG Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 No. Put something in front or turn the ISY toward the wall.
k7zpj Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I use a black Sharpie pen on LEDs that I don't want to be as bright. Start on the outside edges working inward until you get the light level you want. It works well and you can wipe it off incase you need the LEDs to uncovered someday. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
iostream212 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I put my isy in a wiring closet. It was nice having it by my bed, but after a while I too grew annoyed of the bright leds. Now that it is in a wiring closet, along with the rest of my networking equipment, I sleep much better. You could try electrical tape over the leds or turning the unit around. Michel Kohanim Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Hello everyone, Thank so very much for the feedback. Even though there's currently no way for dimming the LEDs, we'll surely take this into consideration in our future HW designs. With kind regards, Michel
ahwman Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Michel Out of curiosity, was there a particular reason you chose to use high intensity LED's? Happy New Year!
Michel Kohanim Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Hello ahwman, Excellent question and the answer is that we had complaints about the green not being bright enough. So, presupposing that ISY would be where the router is (and probably hidden) we went for the brightest blue LED on the market! With kind regards, Michel
ahwman Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 I guess it's true that you can't please everyone... Have a blessed New Year!
sanders2222 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 You need to put the thing in the bathroom. That way, it becomes a night light
Brian H Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Gee my older model with a green LED is just right in my computer room. Next to the router. I wish I could say the same about my early SwitchLincs with those bright LEDs. Even the dark blue or frosted white light pipes only assist to a point.
