Vince Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Hi, I'm trying to set up e-mail notifications. I added my email address and checked the "use default server" in the SMTP setting. When I click the test button, the get a "mail server failure - Mail server not responding" error message. Automatic DHCP is checked in the Network Settings. What is the fix? Thanks
Michel Kohanim Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Hi Vince, Please take a look at your error log to see the error (-5000x). Also, it's advised not to use default because we quickly run out of the quota. If you have your own SMTP server, it's best to use that. With kind regards, Michel
Vince Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 I did input the information for my SMTP outgoing mail server from Verizon and it still failed. Here is the error log info: Time User Code Message Mon 2012/01/16 07:35:51 AM System -50001 -6

This happens mostly ISY is blocked from connecting to a server on the Internet perhaps because the port you used is not correct OR that your ISP is blocking that specific port OR that your router is blocking ISY communications to the outside world. When you go to Configuration | System, can you synch with the NTP server? If not, then we will have to figure out why your router and/or ISP do not let ISY to get to the Internet.
