elite-rob Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Hi Guys, My Harmony 890 broke and I had to get the Harmony 900. I'm trying to set it up and it seems some things changed with regards to the lighting controller. I think previously I had setup the IRlinc using NEC codes, so that commands like "10", "11", etc, would fire off a program. Now, however, the Harmony software actually detects the 2411R and no longer gives me options like "10", "11", etc, but instead mimics the buttons found on the IRlinc (Scene A on/off, Scene B on/off). I can totally switch around my programming to accommodate those buttons... unless someone has an easy suggestion for what I enter in the Logitech software to get the old programs to work? My problem is that after reading the forums, there is apparently a way to add the 40 default codes to the ISY... (Wiki Reference: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... R_Tutorial) I'm supposed to be able to go to the Configuration tab, find the IR sub-tab, and then find an import button. The problem is that on my Configuration tab, I do not have an "IR sub-tab". My only tabs are "System" and "Emails/Notifications". I am running version 3.1.17. Any idea why I'm not seeing this IR sub-tab? Thanks!
elite-rob Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 At the risk of sounding silly.... how do I install it? (Also, thanks for the quick reply!)
LeeG Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 The IR option is additonal hardware. Has to be ordered from UDI. This is needed for the ISY to receive IR signals. It is not needed for the ISY to react to commonads from the 2411R
elite-rob Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 Oh.. I thought I could use the IRlinc from Smarthome and there was a way to just load in the default codes from that. I guess I am mistaken. Thanks.
LeeG Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 The default codes are for the ISY IR feature to receive IR signals directly. Has nothing to do with the 2411R sending Insteon commands in response to it receiving IR signals. You can use the IRLinc with the ISY. There is a link management option "Add button to IRLinc receiver" to add IR codes to the IRLinc and add nodes to the ISY that match the IRLinc codes.
Brian H Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 If you don't have IR and want to add it. As LeeG indicated you need to buy the IR hardware board that plugs into the ISY99is mainboard. Then {don't do it before the hardware is in there} Go to Manage Modules tab and buy the IR firmware option module
elite-rob Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 Got it. Many thanks for the clarification! I'm going to keep hacking away on this and see if I can get the Harmony 900 to work with the ISY and IRlinc.
elite-rob Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 At the moment I'm trying to train the ISY using the method I found in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=6576 Open the admin console on ISY, click on add new button (ie the screen pops up with the steps at that point) Press and hold the set button on the IRLinc reciever for 5 seconds, press the button on the harmony to learn the new button and wait for it to blink blue, then press OK in the ISY console. I can get the IRlinc to blink blue, but when I click "OK" inside the ISY Control Panel, the pop-up window just closes and a device is NOT added. Any ideas?
elite-rob Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 I figured it out.... or so it seems... Here is my exact process just in case someone finds this thread in the future (since I don't want them to be frustrated like I was!): - Add the IRlinc 2441R to your Harmony Remote (This will give it all the default buttons that appear on the IRlinc remote control) - In the UD Admin Panel, go to "Link Management" then "Add Button to IRLinc Receiver" - On the side of the IRlink, press the "set" button for 5 seconds. (Blue light will turn off) - Press the button on the Harmony remote for the scene you want it to learn. (Blue light will blink) Note: It doesn't matter whether you choose the on or off version of the scene. - Press the 'set' button on the side of the IRlinc once. (Blue light will keep blinking) - Press "OK" on the UD "Add Button to IRlinc Receiver" screen. The device/scene will now be added under "My Lighting". Based on what I can see, it adds one device for both the on/off buttons. So, it's not like you can add "Scene A On" as one device and "Scene A Off" as another device. I hope this helps! Cheers.
