I have been using a Smartlinc controller, which needs to be reset every several days. I want to go for more capability, including the ability to use my iphone to do external set-up and control functioins. I have satellite internet, and was told that "the way the packets are handled" I may not be able to be successful with the isy-991. Is there any reason to not get the isy-991 due to compatability with satellite internet? If it is workable with "tweaks" can you direct me to data?

It all depends on the throughput on your Satellite internet. If it's very low, they you are going to have many disconnects especially if you use the Admin Console remotely (Admin Console subscribes to ISY and then ISY keeps sending heartbeats and making sure that Admin Console is still alive).

 

This said, we have many customers successfully using satellite connectivity to gain remote access to ISY.
