Problem with KeypadLinc2 (2484DWH8) and ISY-99i

Recommended Posts

I have the above scenario I am trying to get working:

- ISY-99iR/Pro (1650)

- firmware "Insteon_UD99v3.1.17 (2012-01-19:15:34:02)"

- UI "Insteon_UD99v3.1.17 (2012-01-19:15:34:02)"

-Keypadlinc2 (2484WH8) with Non-Toggle mode off

-Garage-Light (button A of an the above keypadlinc2 (ie it is the hard wired cirtcuit to the KeypadLinc

-I/O Linc Garage Door Control and Status kit

My initial problem is with adding the keypadlinc to the ISY. I did a factory reset to clear it out, and at this point it is only connected to port A, which is the switch that is hard wired (the Garage-Lighr) and the light works from the keypad itself. Next to "Link Management - Start Linking", the box pops up and I tell it to "Remove existing links" as there are none. Then I press the clear tab at the bottom of the keypadlinc for 3 seconds until it beeps, then I press "Finish" on the ISY screen. The ISY finds the keypad and all the keys, i tell it to use non-toggle mode, and then it tries to finalize creating them in "My Lighting" Once it is done, I can see all the keypad buttons but they have a red exclamation mark on them and I cannot query them, add them to scenes, etc... I tried removing them and readding them. I tried clearing the java cache on the ISY, but it still doesnt work. Any suggestions as to what to do next? my LONG term goal is to have each of the 8 buttons control some scene, but I cannot get to there until the ISU sees the keypad correctly.

thanks,

Jason

There are some terms that are causing confusion. There is a 2484DWH8 which is a KeypadLinc Timer. It has various time values on the buttons. This device cannot control 8 different Scenes. There is no device called a KeypadLinc 2. Thought maybe it was a RemoteLinc 2 but a load cannot be connected to a RemoteLinc 2. Please clarify what type of KeypadLinc is actually being used.

Regarding Toggle/non-toggle mode, this applies to individual KeypadLinc buttons, not the entire KeypadLinc itself. What was put into non-toggle Off mode?

The red ! indicates a communication problem with the KeypadLinc. They have to be cleared before other activity such as assigning to a Scene is possible. Right click on Primary node and select Query. If the communications errors happened during adding of the KeypadLinc there could be pending activity that was not completed. You can try right click on the Primary node and select Write Updates to Device. If there continues to be communication problems with the KeypadLinc the Red ! will come back.

Where is the KeypadLinc installed? Are there Dual Band devices installed such as Access Points to couple the 120v legs?
