2993-222 Diagnostics Keypad

Featured Replies

I just saw a new test device on the Smarthome web site.

Have not had much time to look it over yet.

http://www.smarthome.com/2993-222/INSTE ... pad/p.aspx

After looking at the manual. It looks like it is more for the new I2CS modules.

Three of the keys "Lock/Unlock"; "Relink" and "Unlink" only work with devices shipped after March 2012. About when I2CS was released on us.

As I stated in the SH forum. Smart money says this was driven by all the hard work from forum member ELA.

His ELAM tool has proven to be quite impressive and flexible in providing insight about the Insteon inner workings etc.

At the least it was a perfect example of what could be done outside of the global support of the Insteon family.

I am looking forward in having this tool in my arsenal for diagnostic purposes.

Teken . . .

Thank you Teken, that was very kind of you!

I imagine SmartLabs has experienced a lot of requests for a diagnostic tool and thus they have made an offering.

When I first saw this post I rushed to read more. I am trying to reserve any further comment on this tool, as it is of course of no interest to me.

I look forward to hearing from those that choose to purchase it and hear what they think of its value.

In the mean time I am working on adding some I2CS capability to the ELAM and encountering some real strange happenings. Unfortunately operating "outside of the global support of the Insteon family" has become much more difficult without access to a newer ( and freely available) developers guide :(
