hart2hart Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 My ISY with latest official release (3.1.17) was getting many errors attempting to sync with NTP service so I reboooted it. ISY restarted with normal query all sequence but then it displayed an additional very slow moving work in progress bar (about 10 minutes to get to 100%). I have a program that sends me a text message at startup so I can review a couple program states and the text message did not arrive until after the progress bar finished so I took a quick look at error log to see if something was wrong and found the following: (BTW I get error messages about opening elk files even though I do not have the module ... no big deal unless it suaggests something larger) Time User Code Message Wed 2012/04/18 08:52:46 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Socket not active#2 30 Wed 2012/04/18 08:52:48 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Socket not active#2 33 Wed 2012/04/18 08:53:04 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Invalid socket 30 Wed 2012/04/18 08:53:25 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Invalid socket 30 Wed 2012/04/18 08:53:51 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Socket not active#2 33 Wed 2012/04/18 08:54:16 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Invalid socket 30 Wed 2012/04/18 08:54:40 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Invalid socket 30 Wed 2012/04/18 08:55:05 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Invalid socket 30 Wed 2012/04/18 08:55:30 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Invalid socket 30 Wed 2012/04/18 08:55:54 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Invalid socket 30 Wed 2012/04/18 08:56:19 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Invalid socket 30 Wed 2012/04/18 08:56:39 AM System -170001 [sLF] FileOpen Failed: /CONF/ELK.CNF Wed 2012/04/18 08:56:39 AM System -170001 [sLF] FileOpen Failed: /CONF/ELK.CNF Wed 2012/04/18 08:57:33 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Invalid socket 30 Wed 2012/04/18 08:57:58 AM System -170001 [HTTP] Invalid socket 30
Michel Kohanim Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Hello hart2hart, The first thing I recommend is upgrading to 3.2.4 so that we have the same point of reference. Looking at the logs, it seems that there are major network connectivity issues. Invalid socket means that the ISY is acting on a socket that has already been closed. This means two things: 1. Something is bombarding ISY with traffic 2. Port forwarding issues where by traffic destined for another devices is directed at ISY After upgrading to 3.2.4, I suggest the following: 1. If you have any port forwarding rules, please do make sure they point to ISY 2. Telnet to ISY, and then issue DON ... this turns debugging on. Let it run for a couple of days and then send your Error log to support@universal-devices.com With kind regards, Michel
hart2hart Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 Michel: I upgraded to 3.2.4. However, I don't have old laptop (win XP) to access ISY which had telnet. I'll have to find another telnet program for Win 7? Been so long ... do I need to telenet in via rs232 or can I go in via IP address? Paul
hart2hart Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 I knew there was a reason I installed the XP virtual machine
LeeG Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I have seen a post somewhere that explains Telnet does not come standard on W7 but it can be installed as an option. Cannot confirm this personally. I did find this with a Google search for windows 7 telnet From Windows 7 Help: By default, Telnet is not installed with Windows, but you can install it by following the steps below. To install Telnet Client Click the Start button , click Control Panel, and then click Programs. Under Programs and Features, click Turn Windows features on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. In the Windows Features dialog box, select the Telnet Client check box. Click OK. The installation might take several minutes.

I have I'm having the same trouble.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Hello automateit, Are you referring to: Wed 2012/04/18 08:56:39 AM System -170001 [sLF] FileOpen Failed: /CONF/ELK.CNF Wed 2012/04/18 08:56:39 AM System -170001 [sLF] FileOpen Failed: /CONF/ELK.CNF If so, then this is NOT ISY attempting to communicate with ELK. This is a benign error when you go to the configuration screen and ISY cannot find an ELK configuration. You can ignore it. If this is not the case, then would you please let me know what makes you think ISY is trying to communicate with ELK? With kind regards, Michel
hart2hart Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 Michel: I know it has been a while but, I wanted to clean up several things before I took you up on offer to look at error log. I've implemented DSCLink (working great since Firewall rules updated) and revised all external ports out of range of normal ports. Log has been sent via email and contains a couple days. ? Thanks, Paul
Michel Kohanim Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Hi Paul, got your log ... will review shortly. With kind regards, Michel
