Tmc Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I've searched the forum and found lots of topics on the Venstar T1800, but didn't see my particular question discussed. So sorry if the info is out there and I missed it. The isy is working fine with my t-stat. The t-stat has it's internal 7-day programs for heat and cool. These are rather difficult to set up at the t-stat control due to all the button pushing and scrolling through each day. When I bought the unit with Insteon control I really expected that I would be able to set the t-stat's internal programs from the isy console (ie sitting at my computer). I have not been able to find that capability. Is it there and I'm missing it? I am running v3.2.5 Thanks, -Tim
LeeG Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 The tstat native programming cannot be configured with the ISY. You can define ISY Programs to perform similar programming with Insteon commands. This can be done from the computer. The 3.2.6 Official release is available. The ISY should be upgraded to the Official release.
andyf0 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 It is so much easier to setup thermostat scenes in the ISY. Each scene contains Mode, Cool setpoint, heat setpoint, Fan auto or on. Then you just turn whichever scene you want ON at the time of day you want. This is easily done in ISY programs.
Tmc Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 Thanks Andy. I was originally thinking I'd prefer to use the native tstat programs rather than tie it to the ISY. But since there is no battery backup of the clock in the tstat, and the ISY recovers time from the internet after a power outage, I guess the ISY is actually more reliable than the tstat. Much easier to program too as you point out. To have 4 set points per day, it looks to me like that would take 4 programs. Is there a way to wrap them into 1 program? Are there examples of thermostat programs on the forum somewhere that you know of? Sometimes kind of hard to search and find things there is so much information here. Thanks much for your ideas! -Tim
andyf0 Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Having 4 programs is the easiest. If you want different set points for each time create 4 scenes and drag the Thermostat's Main node into each of them. Click on the scene in the left frame and select the set points and mode you want in the right frame. If you're heating and cooling you want mode AUTO. Then create a program for each time you want the settings to change. If Time is 5:00:00AM Then Set Scene 'HALLWAY UPSTAIRS / HU TS (A-C82_H74)' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I name my scenes so they reflect the thermostats settings A - Auto C82 - Cool set point 82 H74 - Heat set point 74 You can add programs for more times of day using different scenes.
