blartyo Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Searched but couldn't find anything. Is there a way to use ISY to permanently turn off the LED's on the Fanlinc unit itself? If not, does anyone know how to do this using another method? Thank you.
LeeG Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 The ISY does not support the FanLinc software settable options.
jdale Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 If you're feeling brave, or are comfortable messing around with Insteon... The command that needs to be sent is pretty simple. command1 = 0x20, command2 = 0x08 (0x09 will turn the LEDs back on.) If you have any means to send custom commands to the FanLinc (e.g. a SmartLinc) you could do it yourself. Note that if the FanLinc is V.41 or higher it will need to be linked as a responder to the device sending the command if it isn't already. If you don't have any means to send custom commands, but you have a Windows computer with a serial port, you could in principle turn off the ISY, unplug the PLM from the ISY and plug it into the computer instead, and use free software that will let you send a command. E.g. even http://busyrat.com/plmtest/ will let you do it (not sure if it will work with Windows 7 though). If you use that, make sure it's got the right Com port to connect to the PLM, then enter 02 62 XX YY ZZ 0F 20 08 where XX YY ZZ should be replaced with the Insteon address of your FanLinc. That should do it. Then plug the PLM back into the ISY and turn it back on. Whistle innocently and pretend nothing happened.
Nuttycomputer Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I think Michel mentioned elsewhere this is going to be added. Not sure if it will be in the next beta release or not. Perhaps Michel can confirm.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Hi Nuttycomputer, Yes, hopefully in the next release. With kind regards, Michel
Xathros Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Hi Nuttycomputer, Yes, hopefully in the next release. With kind regards, Michel Awesome! I have two of these showing a red glow around the fan mounts and the wife seems overly bothered by the one above our bed. The sooner, the better -Xathros
GreyFox Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 That would be awesome, Michel. I will be looking forward to this new release.
blartyo Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Thanks so much for the response. Will look forward to seeing this.
GreyFox Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Just a follow-up so see if this enhancement has been implemented. My wife really wants to get rid of the "evil glow" in our bedroom. Thanks.
LeeG Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 The Set Options on 3.3.3 can turn the LEDs Off. Click Set Options, Query, uncheck LED backlight. It may be necessary to check the box and then uncheck the box. It does turn my FanLinc LEDs Off.
