Guest smontclair Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Lightning struck the pole next to my house. We seem to have had damage come through the coaxial line. The cable modem remained operational, the router only needed a factory reset, but 1 computer connected to the router needed a new NIC. Now I'm on to the ISY. The red error and blue memory lights are flashing, indicating IP issue. I temporarily have the ISY on my work network to troubleshoot and hopefully restore from backup. DHCP working normally everywhere else on network. What is my next step? Can I terminal in through the monitor port or something to try a factory reset? Thanks so much.
Brian H Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 What are the two LEDs on the network connector indicating?
Michel Kohanim Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Hi smontclair, In addition to quite important question from Brian H, if your ISY was setup with a static IP address then, in all likelihood, after the reboot of the router some other device got that IP and thus you have an IP conflict. If you have a good backup, the best thing to do would be to factory reset ISY (http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... ur_ISY-99i). This will put ISY back on DHCP. When you can connect to your ISY again and when you are restoring your backup, you will be presented with a dialog for Network Configuration. Please make sure you do NOT let ISY restore the network configuration from the backup. Also, if your backup is from 3.1.6, in all likelihood it's corrupted. Please do make sure you have a good backup. With kind regards, Michel
Guest smontclair Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 neither network port LEDs are lit. seems like a bad sign...
Michel Kohanim Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Hi smontclair, Unfortunately I think the network chip is gone. Have you tried: 1. Using a different cable? 2. Try a different port on the router? With kind regards, Michel
Guest smontclair Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 i have used a new cable and new router. its definitely the ISY. so is there a way to replace the network chip, or do I need to buy a new unit? thank you
