TV Remote Contol ISY

I have several electrical components including a TV connected to an appliance linc. So I was going to program the appliancelinc to turn off Mon - Thurs (just during the days) while my wife and I are at work. The TV rarely gets used but I wouldn't want my wife to have to turn the appliancelinc on via Mobilinc then have to use the regular TV remote control. She will get tired of doing that quick!

I was wondering, since the remote control that operates that TV and it's components is an RF frequency remote, is there a way to get the remote to turn the appliancelinc on though the ISY as well as turning on all the components? This would really maximize the time the appliancelinc is off instead of just part of the day Mon - Thurs.

If not, what is a better solution than the program which would only turn the components off part of the week?

Thanks!

I don't expect that you could interface via RF, but could with IR. you would need to install an IR reciever (ISY-99ir or IRLinc) in the room where you expect the remote to work and program the ISY-99.

If my web searches where correct. FCC ID MG3 2481 Should be on the remotes label somewhere.

It is a Directv Remote and the RF is only used to control their equipment. With a frequency of 433.92 MHz. Insteon is 915 MHz.

The other equipment functions appear to be IR signals.

I think the IR part of the remote would work with the ISY but the ISY is upstairs and the IR wouldn't get to the ISY for sure. How could I get this to work?

Those would require either a 2nd remote or it would require the wall wart being vissable to the IR from the remote. I wonder if this in combination of the IR ISY upgrade would work...

This may allow me to use the same remote (not a different or multiple remotes) via RF to initiate the ISY through it's IR input. I'm thinking it will still work even thought the ISY is upstairs and the ISY IR isn't visible from where the downstairs remote is typically used.

Thoughts?

Interesting concept.

Replace one of the batteries in the remote with a battery sized transmitter. That sends to the flying saucer receiver.

Here is some information on the IR option for the ISY99i and ISY994i

You may want to read the warning on the Smarthome sales page as they also carry it. In both 433 MHz and 418 MHz models. The 433 MHz model has a warning about one of the DirecTv models. As it also uses 433 MHz.

The users manuals are on the Smarthome site if you care to look at them.
