jmed999
-When you are testing with the event viewer on level 3 is it ok to just hit off over and over instead of rotating between off, on, fast off and fast on? -What filter options are available that work good other than wall warts? Thanks! Link to comment
LeeG
It is not necessary to cycle a device On and Off. Sending repetitive Off commands is not a problem. However, if a problem is related to a particular load being powered from an Insteon device, not turning On the load may not reproduce the problem. A FilterLinc is the Smarthome Insteon filtering device. It reduces issues from both noise and signal attenuation. There are some X10 filters that can be wired in between a Load connection and the actual load. Never used any so have no direct experience with these. I use FilterLincs on several UPS devices and a flat screen TV. Link to comment
jmed999
Ok. I need something to filter my laptop but really don't want to use a wall wart were the laptop os located. I'm looking for ideas. Thanks! BTW, I have everything working great but I'm having to keep a GFCI breaker off because when I turn it on my communication to a device goes bad. The problem is I can't find the problem. The breaker is for a built in bathroom Jacuzzi. I have completely unplugged the Jacuzzi and it doesn't help. I don't know of anything else to unplug. It does connect to a couple outside lights and a couple more indoor outlets but nothing is plugged into those. Any ideas? Link to comment
Xathros
Do the outdoor lights have motion detectors on them ? If so, is there a switch to turn them off ? -Xathros Link to comment
jmed999
They dont have motion detectors. One switch is for outdoor incandescent candelabras and the other switch is for two outdoor CFL down lights. I have turned both switches off when I turn the breaker on. As soon as I turn the breaker on the communication goes from hops left = 2 to unable to communicate with an Appliancelinc. Link to comment
LeeG
I have heard of GFCI breakers tripping with Insteon signals. Don't remember anyone mentioning a GFCI killing Insteon signals on another circuit. Can you temporarily install a normal breaker (with Jacuzzi unplugged) and see if the problem remains. Might be something else on that circuit that is not obvious. Link to comment
jmed999
Might be something else on that circuit that is not obvious. I'm thinking this is it. I'm going to leave the breaker off until I run across something that wont turn on. Then it will be obvious that the Jacuzzi breaker controls that device and that device is the problem. Xathros
Does the jacuzzi have any electronic controls that may have a transformer/power supply generating noise ? Possibly a big noise filter to filter out noise from the pump also sucking Insteon ? Is it hard wired or can it be unplugged to see if its that or something else on the line ? -Xathros Link to comment
jmed999
I unplugged it and it didn't help. Link to comment
