Access Point Outletlinc Question

I plugged an access point into the always on outlet of an outletlinc and the device I'm trying to control into the top (controlled) outlet. I'm still having poor com problem with this device. I was thinking this setup would eliminate the issue unless something was wrong with the outletlinc itself. Is that true?

Not necessarily. The Access Point could be out of range of another Dual Band device that is receiving communication. The load being controlled could be generating enough interference to prevent reliable operation or the powerline in general is bad at that location such that even an Access Point cannot overcome the interference.

 

If an OutletLinc Dimmer be sure the magnetic key is in place. Otherwise the OutletLinc will not respond. Try the OutletLinc with nothing plugged into the controlled outlet. Watch the OutletLinc LED to determine if the OutletLinc is responding correctly. An OutletLinc Dimmer will not respond unless the magnetic key is in place regardless of whether something is plugged into the controlled outlet.

Thanks Lee. It is not an outletlinc dimmer. I'm getting hops left = 1 with the access point. This is a device that worked great for a week or so. Do I need to link the access point to my PLM or does just plugging the access point in work for this application?

Access Points are not linked to other Access Points or the PLM. They function as soon as plugged in.
