sofaspud Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I am trying to link a SwitchLinc 2-wire switch and get a "Cannot determine Insteon engine" error. Switch works fine manually. I am using firmware 3.3.2. Any ideas?
Michel Kohanim Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Hello sofaspud, This error means that the device didn't respond to query-engine command. If possible, please try moving it closer to the PLM as it might be signal related. Or, you might want to try using Link Management | Start Linking. If that does not work either, then I must suspect a faulty firmware in your switch. With kind regards, Michel
LeeG Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Since the SwitchLinc 2-wire is an RF only device it must be in RF range of a Dual Band device. If you have a spare Access Point or can move an Access Point closer without losing phase coupling try that.
sofaspud Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 Thanks for the help. I have an access point within 20 feet of the switch but didn't connect. I unplugged it and plugged it back into the same plug-in and now it works. ??? Not sure what changed but happy its working.
