Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am happy to announce the availability of our 3.3.4 (RC1) release! For a list of changes, please take a look at this post. This is a minor release and an official release candidate.

Know Issues

- None

Things to test:

- SSL and IE9 especially for ISY99

- Admin Console on MAC

- EZRain/IO not responding condition

- Leak and Open/Door sensors

994i ZS Series

- Meter communications and utility price signals

Important Information

1. Important Brultech module is no longer supported on ISY99 Series. Please contact sales@universal-devices.com for options

2. Important NetBios removed from ISY99 Series. You can no longer access ISY by going to http://isy on Windows

3. Important If you have a 994, you will need to re-install a certificate. Please review ISY994 Series Advanced Network Security Configuration for more information.

4. Important We have removed SSLv2 support (very insecure) from ISY99/ISY994. Unfortunately, the only protocol supported by MAC with Java 1.6 is SSLv2. As such, you MUST upgrade your MAC to Java 1.7 (Software Update)

4. Please note that Safari does not support SSL session reuse and thus might take an exorbitant amount of time to communicate with ISY. As such, when using 2048 bit SSL, it's best not to use Safari.

5. If you are using the Irrigation Module and are upgrading from releases prior to 3.1.5, you must edit the programs using Irrigation variables and save the programs again. Irrigation module is no longer on promotion

6. Upgrading from 3.1.3 and below: If you are using WeatherBug Module's Rain Today in your programs, please note that the precision has changed from 1/10 to 1/100 and thus your programs might not run properly

7. For a discussion of variables, please look at our Program Variables forum.

Instructions:

1. Please backup your ISY (File | Backup ISY). If you are backing up a 3.1.6 system, please note that the backups are corrupted. If you have a backup from prior releases, you should be OK

2. Please download the firmware for your platform - please do not unzip

ISY 99i Series

ISY 994i Series

3. Login to the Admin Console and choose Help | Manually Upgrade [the name of your system]

4. Choose the file saved in step 2

5. After the upgrade, ISY reboots. Please do ensure to clear your Java Cache

6. IMPORTANT Once upgrade is completed and ISY reboots, use any of the following methods to access your ISY's Admin Console:

a. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin - applet --- Security Warning: Due to recent Java security problems, it's best to always use method #d

b. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp - Java application

c. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/3.3.4 - applet --- Security Warning: Due to recent Java security problems, it's best to always use method #d

d. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/3.3.4/admin.jnlp - Java application Best method to access Admin Console

Dashboard - not fully supported

- http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/3. ... board.jnlp

8. Please backup your system again

Thanks and with kind regards,

Michel

Upgraded from 3.2.6.

No problems, except the first time I brought up the admin console on my Mac, the console only listed a tstat control page. I replace my Insteon tstat with a Nest a long while ago and had already deleted my previous tstat devices. I did clear my cache after the upgrade and checked the box to remove installed applets, and yes I am running Java 1.7. I cleared cache one more time and have been unable to duplicate the problem since,

I also checked the REST interface for the URLs I use in my setup.

Just curious, what were the factors that led to removal of Brultech support from the original ISY99i?

Thanks,

Elvis

The Is/Is Not Responding feature for the EZFlora/Rain is not working still for me.

Are the EZFlora nodes being marked with a Red !

I unplugged one of my EZFloras and it is now being marked with the Red ! when I do a Query. This was not happening before 3.3.4.

In that last post the device 01 7E 66 is responding with a 02 50 inbound message for the two commands being issued so it would not be marked Not Responding as it is Responding.

LeeG,

Your right, just tested by removing power from the EZFlora and I get the red ! and the program I set up sent me an email about the no response from the EZ.

What I did earlier, thinking I would save some time from going to the garage and unplugging the EZ, was create a program with the nodes for the EZ but instead of looking for no response had them looking for response...expecting an email to be sent everytime the nodes responded. Well, that didn't happen and I assumed something was wrong.

So it appears that I didn't fully understand the operation of this feature. Just so I am clear, once a device doesn't respond the No Response feature runs only once. And the same is true for the Is Responding, Is Responding will run only once if the No Response feature had already previously run. Is that right?

Thanks,

Tim

That is my understanding. Just like Status, once status goes to On a Program can trigger with that condition but it only happens once. The same device can be directed to turn On multiple times after that but since it is already On Status triggers only once. I believe Is Responding and Not Responding are based on the same thing, a change in the Responder (Is or Not) status, not a static state.

Of course if something else triggered the Program the Responding state can be checked, just not a trigger after the first time. Since your nodes were responding there was no change to Is Responding.

Hello elvisimprsntr,

That's quite odd and it should not have happened.

As far as 99i and brultech, the reasons were: 1) not a lot of demand for that module and 2) we decided to use the code space used by that module to support other INSTEON devices

Hello GROBEC,

I am so very sorry but, as far as I know, Apple is forcing everyone to upgrade to Lion for Java 1.7.

With kind regards,

Michel

Everything installed ok but when I cleared my temporary files I got 3 texts messages from 3 programs. I have a text sent when someone with a code to our Elk M1G other than my wife and I arms or disarms the system. For some reason when I cleared the temporary files, 3 outputs changed state triggering 3 texts stating those users had left the house (armed the system).

Seemed strange.

I then ran tests using those user's codes to see what will happen now when they enter (disarm) or exit (arm). When they enter (disarm) the outputs change to "on" like they are supposed to but when they leave (arm) the output does not change to "off" like it should/has in the past.

Thoughts?

If the Admin Code is pulled from the ISY itself on a 99i the UI will indicate 99i. I presume the Admin Console you are using came from the UDI web site which must have been loaded from a 994 build. My 99i with 3.3.4 indicates 99i on the UI line. My 994 with 3.3.4 indicates 994. I pull the Admin Console from the ISY itself.

I still believe it is the same code.

Tried the 3.3.4 on my 994i and had trouble getting the states of the modules.

That is, the admin console stalled sytem busy, or ready, queries to plm

failed or the console would not react ( enable internet acces .... etc.)

On my win7 machines ( 32/64) the only way for the console to react

was to turn off my antivirus, On my win 8 java crashed with an error

message at login.( something about an applet, class)

I succeded going back to 3.2.6 ui & firmware. but the problem stayed.

Things started going bad in the dashboard.

It seems that ,somehow, a problem started in the registries.

Hope it's not the antivirus update,

Had to use a registry backup on the win7/32, backup image restore on the win7/64

nothing else worked

Java is/was up-to-date with the latest version. ( Never use the java cache).

(Tried IE, Firerfox , Google from scratch)

Back to normal now on the machines.

@ Michel

how did you get it to function again ?

Yes I am back to 3.2.6 Firw/UI

Symptoms:

After udate to 3.3.4

Web base UI all ok.

Java UI ( admin. console ) did not respond to queries ( PLM would show as connected but did not answer queries like table content etc.)

Starting at times, it did not recongnise java version so no start ,told me min version req.

Java streamer logo ended with error message.

Turning off Kaspersky made the console work.

Checked my insteon network with the usb modem (HCA) all was fine.

used this link a couple time http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/admin.jnlp very useful

Went back to UI ver 3.2.6 no change

Cleared 3.3.4 certificate in jave

udated back to firware 3.2.6 no change

Final easy solution : windows registry backup recovery : worked

(On one backup was too old and messed up windows: used system image)

Could be a glitch or Kaspersky locked it up when it did a scan or web monitoring,

or the new dashboard messed up when I made the new certificate

at the beginning icon looked normal exept for "?" icon on the left side

then for no reason all the red off icon vanished.

Everything works fine now.

Hope this helps

On a Mac OS 10.8, java console, from the program, Details (tab), disable program doesn't seem to work.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Steve

Update: After refreshing the console, it now shows disabled, but right-clicking and setting to disable doesn't change the program icon (to disabled).
