Cannot get ISY to respond

Recommended Posts

I cannot log into my ISY today. It doesn't respond to the software when I start it nor when I click login. I have power cycled the ISY several times. The network lights are flashing on the jack on the back and when I power it it seems to do a normal startup ending up with one blue light. I need to do some linking and programming and am getting frustrated! Help, please.

To clarify, I cannot get Admin Console to give me a login screen. I've restarted it many times. The shell loads but no logon dialog box.

How do I clear the java cache? I'm using Win 7

I have quit trying to memorize how to get to Java settings, so I have resorted to typing "java" in the search field of the start window. From there, I find it pretty intuitive (in other words, I don't remember this, either) to find the java settings. From there, navigate your way to find where you clear the temporary files (again, all from a failing memory).

I'm having the same issue.

I can connect from MobiLinc Pro, but not from the computer.

I'm on a Mac, tried launching the admin console from the link, and clicking the red "My ISY button on the support page. Tried both from Safari and Firefox.

The red button opens an admin console, but it doesn't populate.

The link gives me the "not found" error, and entering the IP manually yields an "invalid URL" message.

I have power-cycled the ISY and the PLM, no improvement.

JUST tried entering the IP in the browser, which got me to the page the ISY serves.

Succeeded in launching the admin console from there! :D

Hi raydoc,

Here are the instructions:

http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... PnP_Router

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks, I'll try the router setup. I still cannot get the ISY to respond to me from my laptop. I can get it to respond and log into it successfully from my desktop but not through my laptop. I have deleted Java and reinstalled it. I have dumped the Java cache clearing all items possible but still cannot connect to the ISY from the laptop. The java app starts but I never get a login prompt. What other ideas to do others have?

I would put out another hypothesis that will be tougher to test. My Motorola cable modem, will not allow new clients after x amount of time goes by. E.g. if friend comes over with an ipod that I want to allow to use my wifi, I often have to reset the router to actually get it to assign the DHCP address.

Had to do this with a number of items and eventually, with my xbox and another device, I just assigned static IP's to make sure they didn't get ignored by the DHCP on the router.

If you could use the shell to get into the ISY directly and see if it's even getting an IP address, you can eliminate the problem I have occasionally with non ISY devices.

Now my ISY has been given a static IP on my internal network so I can always pull up the html interface anytime on any device on the local lan.

Hi raydoc,

What firewall software is running on your laptop? The problem is that, whatever it is, UDP packets are being blocked and that's why Admin Console cannot find ISY on the network.

With kind regards,

Michel

ESET NOD32

It used to work then stopped working. Hmmmmm. I'll try disabling the firewall and see what happens.
