KPL communication issue

I have 2 8 button KPLs and am using a ISY994; i've assigned the same scene to node-b on both KPLs. If i trigger the scene without using either of the KPLs, it will function as expected; if I trigger the scene by pressing node-b on either of the KPLs, it will light up the entire scene with the exception of the lights assigned to that KPL's node-a (main). This behavior is true for both KPLs. I've received some help from a post under a different topic thread (linked below) and am including it here in hopes to get some additional troubleshooting ideas. thanks-dj

I've performed a factory reset on the device and rebuilt the device in the ISY, both of which have not fixed the issue.
