Non-triggering conditions for programs

You may or may not realize that at present you can do a workaround on this problem by splitting your program

Yes that is what I currently do, was just bringing it up if there are improvements being made around programs would be good not to do a work around. A flag on each program to reevaluate or not reevaluate the If condition once the program starts until it completes may be the answer, but I leave that to the experts to figure out the best way to handle this and whether it is worth the time

Well, I too had hoped that the Network Module would be able to perform an external ping and be able to respond to a success or failure ... :( . It would have been the perfect device (in my opinion) for the task I need to perform.

BUT thanks Xathros for the external link to the Web Power Switch 7: http://www.digital-loggers.com/lpc.html . It has the exact builtin commands I need!

There is more than one way to skin a cat ... ( well not really, I have two of the wonderful beasts, myself :D )

No Problem. I'm about to pick up another one of those for my server room at work. I have a few devices that need occasional power cycling and the ability to do that remotely will be a welcome addition.

Got one of those a while back (version 6) - also a referral from Xathros - and it's a great device. Rock solid too.

I use it for:

- autopinging/reseting devices, including ISY once and ISP router once or twice.

- it staggers the power up of my ISP router, internal router, VOIP gateway, etc.

- with some batch files to turn off/on an external hard drive on my server when it shuts down / starts up

- with a batch file for my wife and I's desktops to power cycle our VOIP gateway, which struggles to reconnect when there are any network interruptions upstream from it (ISP or internal router).

You need curl.exe on path (it didn't work for me with wget for some reason) and the command to power cycle is just this:

curl.exe http://userid:password@192.168.0.60/outlet?4=CCL

While these are not needed a lot, they're gold when you do need them (and help keep the WAF high)

Does ths do ddns as well? There was another posting on the site looking for a cheap ddns solution if o se router doesn't support it.

Not sure about the newer versions but my older one does NOT do ddns.
