Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am happy to announce the availability of our 3.3.8 (RC5) release! For a list of changes, please take a look at this post. This is a minor release fixing minor bugs.

Know Issues

- Java security: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=10409 .

Things to test:

-List from 3.3.6:

-- SSL Communications with ELK which requires ISY994 PRO Series (Configuration instructions)

-- File | Themes

-- Accessibility using Alt key and keyboard accelerators

-- Outdoor On/Off Module 2634_222

-- SwitchLinc Dimmer 2478D

-New

-- 994iZS ... when dropped from the meter, no longer binds to clusters

-- KPL backlight issues

-- ELK Outputs turning off randomly

-- UTF8/Internationalization issues

-- MMS issues with AT&T

-- OpenADR dates

Important Information

1. Important Brultech module is no longer supported on ISY99 Series. Please contact sales@universal-devices.com for options

2. Important NetBios removed from ISY99 Series. You can no longer access ISY by going to http://isy on Windows

3. Important If you have a 994, you will need to re-install a certificate. Please review ISY994 Series Advanced Network Security Configuration for more information.

4. Important We have removed SSLv2 support (very insecure) from ISY99/ISY994. Unfortunately, the only protocol supported by MAC with Java 1.6 is SSLv2. As such, you MUST upgrade your MAC to Java 1.7 (Software Update)

4. Please note that Safari does not support SSL session reuse and thus might take an exorbitant amount of time to communicate with ISY. As such, when using 2048 bit SSL, it's best not to use Safari.

5. If you are using the Irrigation Module and are upgrading from releases prior to 3.1.5, you must edit the programs using Irrigation variables and save the programs again. Irrigation module is no longer on promotion

6. Upgrading from 3.1.3 and below: If you are using WeatherBug Module's Rain Today in your programs, please note that the precision has changed from 1/10 to 1/100 and thus your programs might not run properly

7. For a discussion of variables, please look at our Program Variables forum.

Instructions:

1. Please backup your ISY (File | Backup ISY). If you are backing up a 3.1.6 system, please note that the backups are corrupted. If you have a backup from prior releases, you should be OK

2. Please download the firmware for your platform - please do not unzip

ISY 99i Series

ISY 994i Series

ISY 994i Z & ZS Series

3. Login to the Admin Console and choose Help | Manually Upgrade [the name of your system]

4. Choose the file saved in step 2

5. After the upgrade, ISY reboots. Please do ensure to clear your Java Cache

6. IMPORTANT Once upgrade is completed and ISY reboots, use any of the following methods to access your ISY's Admin Console:

a. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin - applet --- Security Warning: Due to recent Java security problems, it's best to always use method #d

b. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp - Java application

c. http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/3.3.8 - applet --- Security Warning: Due to recent Java security problems, it's best to always use method #d

d. http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/3.3.8/admin.jnlp - Java application Best method to access Admin Console

Dashboard

- http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/3. ... board.jnlp

8. Please backup your system again

Thanks and with kind regards,

Michel

Upgrade went fine and keypad lights now work.

I do have a question though. As a previous Houselinc user, I had the ability to blink the LED based on activity. I am a new ISY user and cannot find that function. Does that exist? This is really only used for Switchlincs with a single LED. However, on 3.3.7 when KPL was messed up, one of my keypadlincs was blinking on activity and I had never seen that done before with Houselinc, so I guess it would be possible on them too.

Upgraded from 3.3.7 without any problems. Everything seems ok so far. I'll test the back lights when I get home tonight.

I have a Keypadlinc 2487S that is reconfigured with 8 buttons. From the device, I can set the LED Brightness. However, from a program, there is no option for On/Off Backlight levels; only Backlight Level by itself. I was trying to setup a program that Dims the On/Off LED Brightness at night, but I only have one option for Backlight Level.

Screenshot attached.

KeypadLinc 2486D works fine.

Also, the Outdoor Module 2456S3E works fine. I just discovered that the module you want to test is the newer Dual Band and I thought that is what I had:( I just got it in December:(

Looks to me like you are adjusting House Floods - Kitchen not Stairway KPL. I suspect House Floods - Kitchen are not on a KPL.

To turn a Secondary KeypadLinc button On/Off from the Admin Console or Program it is necessary to assign that Secondary KPL button to a Scene as a Responder and turn the Scene On/Off.

Secondary KeypadLinc button LEDs CANNOT be turned On and Off with a Program or the Admin Console Direct command. The Insteon Direct On/Off commands do not have a placeholder for button number making it impossible to specify a button number to turn On/Off. An Insteon Direct command to a KPL is assumed by the KPL to be controlling the Load and Load control buttons (ON/OFF for 6 button, Main A for 8 button).

Setting the LED Backlight level adjusts the overall LED intensity of all buttons . It controls how bright all the buttons are when On and Off. The KPL hardware/firmware requires a minimum separation of 8 for low/high numbers. The KPL values can be set otherwise but the KPL itself always operates as though there is a difference of 8 between the On and Off LED backlight level. That is so the difference between a button being On and a button being Off is always visually detectable.

The symptom continues on 3.3.8 because it is not an ISY problem. When a device can be turned On remotely but cannot be turned Off it is usually the Load the device is Controlling. When powered the load generates enough interference such that the Off command is not received. What type of load is the SwitchLinc Dimmer controlling?

I was changing an existing program to the "House Floods - Kitchen" which is the 2487S. I was modifying a program that originally had the "Stairway light" which is a 2486D.

Sorry, I must have confused you. I am not trying to turn on a secondary keypadlinc key. I am trying to set the LED Backlight level that adjusts the overall LED intensity of all buttons. This works in the programs section for a 2486D, but not the 2487S.

Click Help | About, verify the Firmware and UI both indicate 3.3.8. If not clear the Java cache and adjust the URL to invoke the Admin Console for 3.3.8.

Not all device firmware levels support a programmatic change to KPL LED backlight level. What is the firmware level of the 2487S?

Also try a right click on the Primary node and select Diagnostics | Query Insteon Engine. This will insure the ISY knows what Insteon Engine the device contains. Can make a difference in how the LED backlight level is set.

If all else fails run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer at LEVEL 3. Change the backlight level to something other than the current value. Post the event trace. There is a fix in 3.3.8 for this issue on some of the KPLs. Need to see if the fix applies to this variant of KPL.

To clarify, I have added a few more screen shots showing my 2 different keypads and I created a new program with the 2487S only, and there is still no On/Off Backlight settings for the entire keypad. Should not be hard to reproduce.

Firmware is 3.3.8 for both. See screenshot. This is the first time I have accessed the ISY from this laptop and it has been on 3.3.8 since then. No need to flush the cache, but did just in case.

I did right click on the Primary node and select Diagnostics | Query Insteon Engine, but still no change.

I CAN change the KPL LED backlight level from the Main page on the Device itself. See screenshot. I just don't have the option in the Program section. The option is missing, not necessarily broken.

Here is the event view log at Level 3. I changed the level from the Main device page to 6/14 and then back to 7/15. I have done nothing to the program since the On/Off options are missing.

My v.40 KPL Relay also has the different backlight level presentation and it does change the LED Backlight level. There has been criticism/confusion about the on/off level presentation since the on and off levels cannot be changed independent of each other. Perhaps this is an attempt to present a more meaningful option for LED Backlight level.

Again, the new % backlight level is setting the LED Backlight level on my v.40 KPL Relay.

994i or 994 ZS firmware?

Hello,

I have a 994 with the Zigbee module in it. I assume that makes it a 994iZ(s)? I have been using the regular 994 software, but I suspect I should be using the Z firmware. Can someone tell me what the correct version to use would be in this case?

Thanks,

Wayne

I can't seem to upgrade, I am on RC4 (installed yesterday) at this location and I'm getting an error stating File Uploading Failed: (reported size is invalid)

Tried numerous times now. My firmware and UI both report the 3.3.7 version. Suggestions?

I am using dimmable LEDs. I did not encounter this problem with 3.2.x versions though.

OK. I don't have one of the 2487S KPL's to test with here but I would expect it to work the same as the lower amperage KPL's that I do have. Try right clicking on it's primary node in the network tree and select Query Insteon Engine. After that, return to your program and see if the backlight options are there.
