SwitchLinc Dimmer 2-Wire does not play well within scene

I have recently installed several SwitchLinc Dimmer 2-Wire v.41 (2474DWH). Some of them are already successfully in scenes. I am having trouble with one though… the office switch.

In the admin console (v.3.2.6) I’ve linked the office switch to the ISY 99i.

I have full control of it through the console.

HOWEVER, when I add it to a scene, and turn the scene on and off, the office switch does not respond, although the admin console indicates that the switch is changing states. The switch still responds when I select it in the Network tree on the left and use the On/Off buttons, but not when I select the scene and use the scene’s On/Off buttons.

I’ve got 56 devices including all manner of switches, keypads, remotes, motion detectors, and open/close sensors. I’ve got some pretty cool programs for many of these too. This is all to say that I’m not a noob, but I sure feel like one right now because of this crazy 2-wire switch that doesn’t want to play well within a scene!

Any clues? This is driving me nuts!

Thanks,

Jeff

I have a couple of them, and when I added them to the ISY I told it to remove the links by accident and they didn't work anymore. I had to create a scene just for them and manually tell the ISY to put the links back in by adding them to the scene.

Do up a screen show of the scene and post it up. Also an event trace might be helpful, then we know if any attempt to even turn on the light was actually made.

Right click the ISY Scene name, select Diagnostics | Scene Test. This test takes several seconds to complete. When done it will show if each Responder to the Scene was a Success or Failure. If the Scene Test works it indicates all the required link records have been written and are working. If the Scene Test fails it can mean a link record problem or a serious comm. problem.

When a Scene Test is successful but the using the Scene is not reliable for a particular Responder it usually means a communications problem with that device. Direct commands and Scene Test commands have multiple retries built into the protocol. Controlling a Scene with On/Off does not have those retries so issues with comm show up quickly. The 2-wire devices are RF only so they have to be in reliable range of a Dual Band device. Try moving a spare Access Point closer to where this 2-wire device is located.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I tried the Scene Test and it said it Failed. Here are the details:

I also did a Show Device Links Table for the switch in the scene, and then a Compare. It showed 5 links in each table: 1 was Identical, and 4 were Record Mismatch. I don’t know what this means, or how to fix it, but it doesn’t sound good :(

What should I do next?

Thanks,

Jeff
