Weatherbug Module

Hey everyone,

I have weatherbug and want to know if it is possible for this module to automatically activate or deactivate a program based on weather conditions.

eg. if it starts raining while your sprinklers are on, turn them off! It'd be simpler than having a repeated program constantly monitoring.

Also, is it possible to make variables equal to values derived from the module. eg let variable rain_amount = amount "Rain Today"

1. How? If I have a timered schedule running, how can I have weatherbug deactivate/stop the program if it starts raining in the middle of the schedule.

2. Can weatherbug forecast expecting rain? If so, how to get data? I assume Rain Today is a measure of the amount of rain currently and not expected rain amount.

Hi eyeandy,

1. Depends on your program. If you are using a Wait, all you have to do is to add the Rain level in your condition. Once rain condition turns false, Wait stops. If not, you can have another program that basically disables this program. Or, you could have a folder based on rain level and put your scheduled programs in there ... i.e. the programs are not run unless there's no rain

2. No, we currently do not do forecasts. Here's the link to irrigation module: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... ion_Module

Based on your questions, it seems that you have not yet started programming in ISY. Most of these concepts will become clear when you have created a few programs and/or reviewed the tutorials/videos on our Wiki.

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi eyeandy,

I use a variable called s_its_Raining to monitor rain. I also monitor amount of rain to trigger other variables for two different rain delay programs, either for one day or three days based on the amount. I usually monitor the rain total amounts just before my sprinklers are set to start. That t way I don't have to worry about stopping an already running sprinkler cycle.

FYI:

I also use the Weather module to monitor temps and trigger my thermostat to change my heating and cooling cycles in other programs.

Hi C Martin,

How are you able to use variables to monitor the amount of rain? As I see it, ISY does not have the ability to make a variable equal to a variable in the weather module (such as amount of rain). If you figured a workaround please let me know.
