  1. @Brian H As stated, 2412S PLM. No changes to Insteon device is 5+ years. Nor any additional noisy PWM power bricks.
  2. It’s powered by the PLM.
  3. I’ve had my ISY99 then ISY994 in service for more than a decade connected to a serial 2412S Insteon PLM. The ISY is powered by the PLM. Except for Insteon in wall and plug in module high failure rates [emoji3525], the ISY and PLM duo have been seemingly rock solid until recently. In the past weeks the ISY randomly stops responding and the activity lights are off even when the power light is on. When I disconnect and reconnect power it starts working again for a few days. I don’t think it’s due to a power glitch on my mains since I get instant notification from my UPS when a glitch occurs. Many moons ago, I bought a second hand ISY-994 with a ZW 500 module, since those were no longer available for purchase, so I could upgrade to the latest firmware. I know UDI no longer provides support for the ISY, but I am not ready to migrate to the eISY. I just don’t have the desire or bandwidth. I was wondering if someone else has experienced similar symptoms and/or what they did to resolve it, or any suggestions. I did make a recent backup of my ISY config JIC. 1. Is the SD card going bad? If so how can I replace? 2. Is the PLM suspect? 3. Is the ISY itself going bad? My recollection is the second hand ISY I purchased does not have all the module licenses activated. I recall at one time UDI would migrate licenses to a different device for a small fee. Not sure if that is an option anymore.
  4. Spammers were using bulk email to sms/mms. My guess is ATT is trying hard to detect and block this sort of abuse, which may have the unintended consequence of blocking legitimate use of the feature. We can all thank ATT for releasing all our sensitive information. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/att-now-says-data-breach-impacted-51-million-customers/
  5. The jury is still out, but from everything I read it is legit.
  6. BACKGROUND There are some major projects that actively contribute to FreeBSD, which are moving from FreeBSD to Linux. 1. iXsystems is already recommending TrueNAS SCALE for new deployments, as new features will likely only be developed for SCALE. https://www.truenas.com/compare/ 2. Netgate posted a blog about the future of pfSense. Initial reactions were this was an Aprils Fools joke, but turns out they are serious. https://www.netgate.com/blog/pfsense-software-embraces-change-a-strategic-migration-to-the-linux-kernel There also seems to be a decline in large doners. https://freebsdfoundation.org/our-donors/donors/?donationYear=2024 QUESTION With the rapid industry shift away from FreeBSD, and likely less contributions to FreeBSD, what are the long term prospects of a FreeBSD based EISY?
  7. I am not familiar with details of the E27. You would have to reach out to UDI or Elk directly for that.
  8. +1 Elk M1 Gold w/ELK-M1EXP Ethernet interface. Elk has a newer cloud centric recurring extortion fee E27 alarm, but not sure about integration. I ripped out the builder quality Napco GEM and installed one in 2008. 1. No recurring extortion fee for self monitoring 2. Works with ISY and I believe eISY 3. First and third party mobile apps. Some offer subscriptions, but can easily be configured for direct remote access without a subscription with a little effort. https://www.elkproducts.com/m1-security-automation-controls/
  9. I spun up my own instance of Homebridge and connected it to my ISY, Elk, and cameras. Works automatically! Theoretically is should work with the eISY.
  10. Glad I have a dumb Chamberlain garage door opener. I bought/installed mine in 2009 before MyQ was even a thing. I wired a magnetic door sensor on the door header to an Elk M1 input zone and a relay output soldered to the back of the Chamberlain wall mount controller push button contacts. IMHO, the Insteon garage door kit with the relay module is just too unreliable for anything safety and security related, not to mention the documented Insteon vulnerabilities. I configured the Elk relay output as a momentary output and programmed an Elk keypad function key to toggle the relay and blink the illuminated function key when the door is open. Both driveway and interior garage cameras allow me to confirm there are no humans/pets or obstructions in harms ways before remotely closing the door, e.g. after letting a contractor in. I also use a MobiLinc HD geofence to open the door (if not already open) when I arrive 200m from my house and turn on the exterior lights. You can set ML to not update an ISY variable if the phone is locked to prevent someone who steals your phone from gaining access to the garage. I never perform autonomous automatic closing of the garage door based on time of day or when leaving. Closing is always a manually initiated action performed by a human. Although not stated in Chamberlain’s official statement, it would not surprise me to find out Chamberlain’s lawyers advised them to shutdown unauthorized access to their APIs because of potential liability when someone does something stupid which results in injury or death.

    HomeKit support

@SSS Since there is no official package for FreeBSD, I suspect it will be awhile. I suggest you spin up a bare metal Linux distro, VM, or Docker container. https://homebridge.io/how-to-install-homebridge
  12. In South Florida, momentary (<2 seconds) power interruptions are a common occurrence (weekly), even on clear sunny days. Since FPL installed smart meters, brown outs are extremely rare. When I had the ISY-99(4)i on UPS power, 90% of the time it would lock up. In fact, I actually prefer to see the lights flash off, then back on when the ISY reboots. Let's me know all systems are go. Choose what works best for you.
  13. You should consider stepping up an enterprise level open source firewall, which can monitor a WAN connection and failover to a cellular backup if you are having so much trouble with your current provider, and/or switch providers. https://pfsense.org runs on almost any x86_64 hardware, including virtualized. Orders of magnitude more capable and flexible than cheap consumer [redacted]
  14. Why not just use the time offset since dusk/dawn based on your location? Infinitely more reliable than a Rube Goldberg contraption
