RainMachine

Running on PG3 - Node Server for the Green Electronics RainMachine

  1. I activated a new zone and changed the default name to a new one on the RainMachine itself. Is there an easy way to have the node server pick up those changes?

  2. I believe the recent changes to the python library being used has impacted this NS. Here's a snippet from my logs. 2024-06-28 00:00:15.949 Thread-2269 (poll) udi_interface ERROR udi_interface:write: Exception in thread 2024-06-28 00:00:18.815 Thread-2269 (poll) udi_interface ERROR udi_interface:write: Thread-2269 (poll) 2024-06-28 00:00:18.815 Thread-2269 (poll) udi_interface ERROR udi_interface:write: : 2024-06-28 00:00:18.815 Thread-2269 (poll) udi_interface ERROR udi_interface:write: Traceback (most recent call last): 2024-06-28 00:00:18.815 Thread-2269 (poll) udi_interface ERROR udi_interface:write: File "/usr/local/lib/pytho…

  3. Hi @glarsen, I just started up the RainMachine NS for the season today. I'm running 3.2.0. The NS is up and running but the AC indicates that the RainMachine status is Offline. I looked in the log and I saw this error: 2023-04-14 21:27:10,908 Thread-58 udi_interface ERROR rmfuncs:rmHeartBeat: Ping Error - No Heartbeat 2023-04-14 21:32:10,920 Thread-76 udi_interface ERROR rmfuncs:rmHeartBeat: Ping Error - No Heartbeat The odd part is that it is working, I can turn zones on from the AC. I noticed in your change log that there is a version 3.2.1 but it doesn't seem to be available in the NS store even after a refresh. Any sugge…

  4. I thought I would publish a practical use for the Rainmachine @glarsen and Flume @Jimbo.Automates PG3 node servers . I started this project about a year ago and thanks to the help of the 2 above developers, making some changes for it, it has been running fine for many months. It takes the expected usage for each irrigation circuit ( from Rainmachine info ) and compares it to the actual usage ( from Flume ). If an excess water situation is detected, i.e. a malfunction in a circuit, an alert message is sent to me so I can fix the problem. All this is done via the ISY running on a polisy and the 2 PG3 node servers. This has been invaluable during our drought conditions…

  5. Started by rshilliam,

Is the $29.95 yearly subscription required for the Node Server or would this actually be a way to not require the remote access subscription because the Node Server on Polisy is on the local network?

  6. Started by david-4,

I had been running the Rainmachine app to control my 16 zone Rainmachine Pro controller ever since you released it in Polyglot V2. I recently converted my ISY to IoP (on Polisy)and moved to the paid version of your app on Polyglot V3. Now it only shows 12 zones. The free Polyglot V2 showed all 16 zones and worked great. How can I get all 16 zones to work with the paid version on polyglot V3? Thanks for your help

  7. Started by chuckl,

I'm evaluating candidates for control of my sprinklers and have narrowed it down between the Rachio and RainMachine hardware. I cannot seem to access a trial of this poly. Any advice?

  8. Started by mbking,

@glarsen, I noticed recently I wasn't getting any updates in UD Mobile for RainMachine, so I restarted the node server. It appeared to restart and then immediately stopped. Attached is the log package showing the errors. I'm running IoP 5.4.4 and the PG3 3.1.11. RainMachine_10-17-2022_80819_PM.zip

  9. Hi @glarsen I have been without issues for many months now...Thanks Starting last Sunday my programs stopped triggering when a zone was turned on. I had made no changes to anything. This morning I updated my PG3 and all programs via the ISY on Polisy admin interface, to see if that would fix the problem. No change. I am able to turn zones on and off fine. Just the status is wrong and if I do a query while a circuit is running it does not show as running...always idle. Has anyone else seen this. I have attached various screen shots and logs below. The log file was captured while a program was running this am. Note RZ check program last run time of SaturdayThanks …

  10. Have just migrated most everything over from ISY994 and most things seem to work for now. I have purchased this in the store, it shows in my account, but it shows as not running, and I can't seem to figure out how to configure it (i.e. tell it what the ip of my Rainmachine is, etc...) Any basic direction would be appreciated, including where to ask this question if this isn't the place. Thanks

Hi @glarsen, I just installed 3.1.6 on PG3(3.0.55). There is an error on startup, see attached log. Thank you for your help. RainMachine_4-1-2022_95312_AM.zip Update: After multiple restarts I stopped the NS around 10 this morning. This afternoon I thought I would give it another try, and it came right up first try. Thanks anyway I'm all set.

  13. Hi I was gone for 6 days and while I was gone someone unplugged my rain machine. When I got back I noticed the poly was getting errors to the effect " controller not found in database". Also it showed as disconnected in the PG3 display. Most status in the admin console appeared ok however. Anyway I restarted it to see if that would fix it. No change. I then deleted and reinstalled it in the same slot. It no longer will install. I also rebooted the polyglot along with re powering up the polisy. No luck. I am not sure what to do next. I have attached various log files and screen caps. Not sure if they will be of value as it was down for so long. Any help…

US units have been changed to GPM. Requires at least ISY on Polisy version 5.4.0

  15. Hi @glarsen Just following up on a post you made in my other topic, on detecting leaks using the rain machine and the flume node servers. I have both of these apps running on my Polisy using the PG3 version. I am successfully pulling the current flow from the flume side. I was wondering if you thought any more about adding the GPM flow rate by circuit to the Rainmachine side. It is the value called "total flow" that I input when defining zones. It is the last piece of info I need to get this up and running. My goal is, when I detect a circuit running, to take this value and compare it with the actual data ( after a startup delay ), that I am g…

  16. for @glarsen I have written a program that I hope to have trigger when a certain circuit comes on. In this test zone 8. For some reason, it will not start when the node status switches to run. I have multiple screen caps below. The program is first. I manually ran the if statement at 3:32 to verify status is false and node says idle I waited a few minutes and then manually started circuit 8 on my rain machine. Within 15 seconds or so the node showed the circuit as running, but the if statement did not trigger true. I then ran the if statement manually and also did not get a true status. Am I am doing something wrong or am I a victim of not understan…

  17. Started by stevehoyt,

It looks like sometime in the last day or so I started to get a failure to connect error. Restarting the node server seems to have fixed it. I had a similar problem with the flume node server a few days ago. It also said unexpected disconnection. This is an FYI as I know everything is in beta. I have a bit of the logs below. If you need more info let me know.
