I am installing two 2992-222 range extenders on my system. Should they be located as far apart as possible? One upstairs one downstairs? (One on each 120v leg of course). Does location matter? PLM is in the basement near the ISY.

Office lights are under program control from a motion sensor. Simple motion sensor 'on' turn lights 'on'. But sometimes I get this flurry of 'on' commands, maybe 20 in a minute, one after the other. Is it because it is under program control and also the motion sensor is linked? I have another one that doesn't do that. It's a refurb, maybe I should have defaulted it when I installed it. It works fine, I just get this sometimes. Thanks.

Hello, I am going to be installing can lights and would like to get them installed with no switches physically wired into them. I have 2 KPLs with open buttons that I would like to use to control them. Would it work if I just used a micro dimmer switch in the ceiling box and capped off the sense wires? At my home away from home I have Hidden Door Sensors on both entry doors, one on an outbuilding and an Open/Close Sensor on the door of another outbuilding. Recently, I hot a notification from one of the doors had been opened. I used cameras inside the home followed by a site visit to verify that no one had entered. This morning I got two such notices from that same sensor--both were false. A check of the Summary tab showed that the notification program had not run! Weird! Any ideas?

I noticed that my ISY was not available online (my.isy.io Portal and via my PC using Java) and I could not log into it. I rebooted my ISY and PLM. it would respond but extremely slow. Once I finally got logged in, none of my programs were available, and the logs were empty. I was thinking that I had a run-away program but there were none there. I decided to try and click on "Undo Changes" under program details and all my programs came back or appeared. I clicked on Save changes after that. I then tried to do a backup and then I noticed that all my icons were blank and there the backup/restore options are unavailable. On the main page, there is a red ! on the ISY. …

I have an ISY 994i and when I access the admin console, it opens then immediately closes. I've done this for both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Both have the exact same problem. I'm using Windows 7. About the only change I've made is I started integrating Amazon's Echo with the ISY (which works well, by the way). Otherwise, I've made no changes. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? Thank you.

I'm trying to get the status of my pool heater when it's turned off and on. I tried "Pool Heater is ${sys.node.30 4a 13 1.st}" and when it runs it sends me "Pool Heater is node[30 4a 13] instead. Also, I assume your supposed the add the 1 to the end of the node address, wiki doesn't explain that. Thanks

I just picked up a bunch of leak sensors (2852-222). I noticed there is a clear plastic film on them from the factory. Is this supposed to be removed before deploying the sensors, or is it there to protect the electronics from moisture?

I just installed several Insteon devices and an ISY controller and am beginning to educate myself on how to set up my system. (BTW, this forum has been very helpful, so thanks to all those who contribute!) When I installed the new light switches, I manually cross-linked the switches to replicate the three-way circuits that I had before switching to Insteon. I realize i can also create this cross-linking using scenes on the ISY controller as opposed to doing so manually at the switches. My question is whether there is any reason to create these cross-links using scenes rather than doing so manually. Is there any difference between the two methods? I'd like to get the…

Folks, I accidentally linked the Link Management -> Start Linking to see what it was about (the ISY read in direct links from previous software management so I've only had to manage scenes up to now). And I didn't see a way to cancel! So, before I started I shut down the Administration Console and when I logged back in the system status is Linking. I can't get it to stop. I am remote from the device. How do I interrupt and reset the process? It just tries to write to the PLM and this has been going on for hours. -Scott

994i Running 4.3.26 UI and Firmware. I have two 2845-222 Hidden Door Sensors. They were working and then after the batteries died one went stupid. I have replaced the batteries, and they both add fine to insteon hub, but not the ISY. The first one "garage door" reloaded and works fine. The second one, "Front Door" doesn't work. The docs for the Insteon Hub are easy, click "Add" and then press button until it adds. For the ISY, I see all kinds of notes about making sure you have the right firmware and it is close to a dual band switch. It is 3' from a dual band switch, and the "garage" is 12'. I guess it was just a matter of time.. also experienced PLM failure, but i also have quite a few Z-Wave devices on my network which i expected to keep working. Seems when the ISY994 enters safe mode, it cannot do anything else? Is this by design? I would think it would work without the PLM, and eventually, as my Insteon devices fail (seem to be 2-3 years on switches, this PLM was 4 years), i will replace with something more reliable, but ISY should function.. I'm using a switch to turn on several switches. Here's the problem, in the if statement, it shows percent on level for my trigger. How do I control it if I don't care what level on %, just anytime the button is turned on?

Hello Everyone, I am brain f@rting on a program I am trying to create. What I am looking to do is create a program that sets my outside porch light to 40% from sunset to sunrise (next day) but if the motion is triggered, set the light at 99%, wait 1 minute, and then return to 40%. Lately this app has given me problems. I went to their website where they say I must be running ISY 4.2.30 or latter and have the TSL set to 1.0 or later. I am running 4.3.26 and TLS 1.2. But it will not work. Worked yesterday but not today. Frustrated! Nothing has changed since yesterday. Any help is much appreciated. Someone needs to make an app that just works.

Hello, Like many of you, I have recently become engrossed in smart homes in general and all of the possibilities. I have built a fairly standard Insteon system so far (light switches, door lock, garage door opener, thermostat and motion) and also have some LIFX and the Echo. I am fairly happy with the performance of what I have and how it works with Echo. Hi guys I hope this is an ok thing to post here. Here are the two things I am trying to accomplish. My device is: ISY994 Setup: Scene: I have a scene called Night Time. It turns off the lights in the house but dims the bathroom night light. Motion Sensors: I have three motion sensors in the bathroom. One in the main area, one in the toilet and one in the shower. I added two switchlinc on/off switches right next to each other. It seems that one of them randomly flashes red on either on or off after I add it to my controller. When I disconnect it from the controller, it operates the light just fine and there's no red flashing. Does anyone know what that's about?

Last night my programs stopped running. The PLM had a green light. The ISY had the solid blue light but the Memory Light was flashing every few seconds. I unplugged/rebooted the ISY and all is once again well. My question is, what could possibly have caused that condition? Thoughts?

I have two computers on my LAN. One computer is an old Notebook computer running Windows 7 64 bit the other is the Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 64 bit. Last week some event occurred such that neither machine could access the admin console. All attempts to restore access to the ISY from the Surface Pro 3 fail. The Notebook computer connected to the ISY as soon as I reloaded Jave and made sure that the cache was empty. What can I do to get the Windows 10 machine talking to the ISY again?

I apologize in advance if this has been answered previously, but I've been searching for the last hour plus and haven't seen a definitive answer. I just purchased a new Insteon Garage Door kit with the IOLinc and reed switch. I quickly got it set up on my garage door, but "Garage Door-Sensor" reads "On" when the door is closed and "Off" when the door is open. I experimented with switching the "motor wire" between the "NC" and "NO" contacts on the IOLinc, but this appeared only to affect the garage door opener button on the wall. Taking a step back, I didn't see how that would affect how the IOLinc treats the sensor, because the reed sensor is connected to the "Sen…

I had a problem where the ISY at home had firmware and UI of 4.3.26. However, my remotely located ISY had firmware of 4.2.30 and UI of 4.3.26. Don't have a clue how that happened. Nevertheless, I accessed the remote ISY and downloaded the firmware of 4.3.26. Now, both ISYs have the same firmware and UI. Later, when I tried to download the Admin Console Icon to my desktop I get the icon with a coffee cup and admin.jnlp beneath it but not the traditional icon. The icon that displays is fully functional but just not the traditional icon. Anyone know what is going on?
