At night I have my thermostat cooling turn to 82 degrees and heating to 65 degrees (essentially, off) in one area of the house (I have two zones). In the morning it turns the cooling to 76 degrees and heating to 72 degrees. All of this is done using programs. It had been working flawlessly for a while but recently every few days, in the morning after it changes both the cooling and heating to 76 and 72 respectively, a few minutes later (usually about 3 minutes later) the cooling changes back to 82 degrees. For no apparent reason, this program stopped working. Left and worked properly, returned and has not worked since. From sunset to sunrise and KPL button (status not off) becomes illuminated (which is an indication that the Insteon Garage door status device indicates garage door was opened) wait 2 seconds, designated lights come on, wait 2 minutes, those designated lights go off. I tried the following; Click run-then, run-else in program and it responds accordingly. Lights turn on and goes off in 2 minutes Disabled program and rewrote it. New program not working either. I've had a program that has been working flawlessly for the last year that when enabled turns off all 3 kitchen lights by just switching one of them off after a certain time in the evening (e.g. as we're headed to bed). Now it no longer recognizes when I switch any one of them off. The event viewer (at any level) registers nothing. The light the switch controls of course turns off but the program is no longer triggered and none of the other lights in the "Kitchen Night" scene are turned off. Or is it normal to have a scene for each controller for the same responders? I do see that there are scenes that were built (automatically) that have multiple controllers. I have a very simple program that sets a variable if the average temperature drops below 5c. I use this variable to run or not to run programs. If module 'climate' average temperature <=5c I'm in Montreal Canada and we are in the middle of the summer and the average temp doesn't go anywhere near 5c , but every night this program runs and sets the variable wrong.

Is anyone accessing the admin console with a surface tablet. I frequently go months without having to access the admin console. When I do I have to pull out my old laptop, although with a SSD it boots or wakes quickly. My wife suggested that we need another iPad, because 3 in a family of four is not enough. I'm going to be deploying a bunch of new switches soon so I was thinking of getting a surface 3 (non pro). I would just need it to surf the web and access the admin console. Any real computing can be done on the desktop or the laptop. One down side to the surface would be that there is no roomieremote, but I pretty much always have my iphone with me. Any though…

First the instructions says to put all battery powered devices in programming mode. I was going to do this but ran into an issue. I put the 1st remotelinc in programming mode then when I tried to put the 2nd one in programming mode the 2nd one beeped and both the 1st and 2nd one stopped programming mode. Did I link them? Hi folks! I recently installed an ISY994i to control my growing number of Insteon devices and could not be happier! Sure beats the old way of doing all the linking manually. I've had the same program the past two years that would turn my lights off at 11:59:59 (midnight) Outside Lights Off - [ID 0004][Parent 0001] If Time is 11:59:59PM Then Set Scene 'Outside Lights' Off Set Scene 'Outside Landscaping' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Today I woke up and all my lights were still on. I want to measure humidity in a couple places in the house. First the two bathrooms then the basement. For bathrooms if it reaches thresh hold the kick fans on My only. Question is I don't want to spend money n putting thermostats in every room. Is there. Hi all, I just bought a new house in a rural area and wanted to get a ISY system to start home automation and monitoring. I've used Insteon in the past and while they work great they sure do seem to die quickly and at usually $50 a pop that sucks. Im was wondering, if you all were starting from scratch what would you use? I dont know much about Zwave for Zigbee so I figure I'd ask. Thanks!

I just installed 2 leak sensors in different implementations of ISY, the second one I installed is in the home I live in and the question I have is about the heartbeat. Should it be "On"? My leak sensor at the other place shows "ON" but the leak sensor where I live shows "Off". Can someone help me understand what I am missing? Thanks, bdw72

Hello, My Administrative Console disconnects consistently after 15 seconds and I am prompted with the login screen. Logging back in resumes the session but the disconnect happens again consistently after 15 seconds. This issue was happening on my older computer so I setup the admin console on my new computer with fresh install, java client and clear cache. My ISY is up to date with the latest release. What are the built-in substitution variables available in the ISY? I’ve read the wiki page on email substitution variables which show ELK, weather and device variable options but what about others that are available but not mentioned in the wiki? I know of ${alert.time12} and ${alert.date} but that’s it. Are there others? ${alert.date} gives the format YYYY/MM/DD. Is there another alert.date variable that will give just the month or just the day or the same info but in another format?

I have a few 1-wire sensors run through an Autelis interface to export temperatures into ISY. So far i have only been using programs to push the data (temperatures) to me at certain times of the day, which it does perfectly. I would like for it to send me a notification when, for example, the temperature hits 100. I would think this simple program would do it but it wont... I have a shallow well at a vacation home 325 miles from my primary residence. The water is pumped by a Utilitech Shallow Well Jet Pump (#0052306; 110v). I have checked the plate on the pump, and it has no information on the amperage. A search online has failed to provide this information as well. The pump is located in a small cellar which, at times, has high humidity from “sweating” of the pump and bladder tank. During the times we are away I use a motion activated sprinkler as a deer deterrent for the garden. My concern with this system is that I may have a pipe break, break in the water hose to the motion activated sprinkler or failure of the sprinkler itself. This wou…

I have the ISY 994i with Z-Wave. I also have an old hardwired outdoor low voltage light controller with the physical wheel and pop up tabs to control when the outdoor landscape lighting will go on an off. I have to adjust it several times a year and on nights when I want to do some star gazing, I have to go turn off the breaker. It plugs into the outside outlet and has two 300 watt circuits each on a separate breaker in the controller. I'm almost positive it's 48v but it could be 12v to the lights. I would love to be able to replace it with something in my Universal Devices Administrative Console and have it automatically go on at sunset and off at a specific …

Hey folks! Heres what I am trying to do ... I bought an Insteon doorbell detector kit and here's the way I want it to work. 1. Press the doorbell. 2. The IOLinc senses the doorbell current and sends the sensor ON signal into the power line. 3. Electrically lockout further doorbell press detections for 25 seconds; the actual doorbell can . be pressed and sound multiple times during the lockout phase. The way I have this set up is to pass the signal from the ELK detector to the IOLinc sense input through the NC contacts of the IOLinc output relay. Hi, I am moving to a new home and am adding a new PLM / ISY. The new home currently does not have any automation. At the old home, I did lots of programming and I have a backup on my computer that will go to the new house. Two questions: 1) How do I preserve the extensive programming from the old home in case I need it at the new home? 2) For a few more days, I still have access to the old home ISY. Do I need to do anything to help me preserve the programming for the new home before I lose access? Thanks!

I have a new motion sensor on the front porch connected to the light. It is set to occupancy mode and On only. What I want is if all of us are away, and the motion sensor is tripped, I want a notifcation every minute. I have everything except for the alert working like I want. How do I get it to alert me on the first trip and the wait a minute and then alert me again if there is still motion?

[iSY994i 4.3.10 with Dual-Band PLM] In troubleshooting a light (I had mislabeled in the ISY), I ran a scene test. ALL Devices failed with every test (Mostly dual-band On/Off or Dimmer modules). The lights turn On/Off okay during the test, but everything fails, always. I found this to be true with almost every scene, unless it was very small, like 2 devices. Does Scene Test only work on the smallest of scenes, or is this an indication I may have a serious com issue all through the house? I have 58 Insteon devices, most of which are dual-band. I was also able to turn on the scene, query it, turn off & re-query to confirm the devices were in the correct state.

ISY instructions state: "Both devices have to be the same type of device in order for the new device to be displayed in the replace menu." Are the subject devices "of the same type"?
