If needed, can a new (i.e. replacement) ISY be programmed by restoring the settings saved from an old ISY? Just curious if in fact some day I need to replace my existing ISY hardware. I have a ton of devices, scenes and programs which would be a pain to re-create from scratch.

Hi, I have taken over an installation and programming project from a former employee. I've finished cleaning up many issues with the programming except the fact that the Motion Sensors still trigger the outdoor lighting during the day. Is this by design? If by design, how do I program them to not trigger during the day? Thanks

  4. I recently replaced my Venstar thermostat 2441V adapter. The replacement was sent to me by SmartHome due to the recall that caused the thermostat to sporatically set itself at a random temperature. Now the replacement adapter (v.95) does not work properly with the isy99. The isy seems to only be able to get the status of the tstat and cannot change its settings. Anyone else have this issue? I've updated the isy99 firmware to the latest beta, but it doesnt help. I solved this problem by deleting the thermostats from the ISY99, then added them back in after updating to ISY 3.3.2.

I have been messing a few days with an 8 button KPL 2486D ver. 40 Should seem straight forward, but this Knewbe is confused. I want to use the bottom 4 buttons E,F, G, H. I would like H. to be all off including all lights on the keypad, Excluding H. Would like to keep it on to know all off sceen is in gauged. G. I would like to light up buttons G and A, load button. All lights in this group on other switches set to 80%,. The A. button load-control to 80%. If button A is pushed the load shuts off and A button light goes out. I have 2 EZFloras. One has 4 zones being used and the other has 5 zones being used. I have the weather module but the closest weather station with an accurate rain gauge is still too far away from my house to get good results for my home. With that said, what other options do I have to turn off/delay my sprinkler programs due to rain at my home and used in conjunction with the ISY? Thanks!

I'm considering getting some Insteon Linc devices, primarily for the control of outdoor features like several sets of landscape lights, lamp posts, pond pump, pond lights, pool lights, ... and also have control via iPod/iPhone/iPad. Have individual on/off toggles and maybe a couple scenes, front yard on/off, back yard on/off, all on/off. [ I may look into additional uses later down the road, but have a less common situation where many lamps or lamp sets can be controlled from three locations via a low voltage relay circuit (they are not 110v switches) ] I would install several ApplianceLincs outside ( several existing 110v outside lines would each serve two or thr…

  9. Started by Teken,

I would like to know if this is on the UDI road map. In the House Linc 2 the software application has the ability to upload new updates to any RF Motion sensor. Once the user awakens the RF Motion sensor it will remain in a ON state to receive any new updated programming. I know this question has been asked quite a few times and I have received various replies in some cases. But, unless I am missing the obvious how is this accomplished *Assuming* this feature exists? To be clear I am asking that (I) simply have to walk in the path of the RF Motion sensor to awaken it, and then the unit will remain in this state until all new programming / firmware updates are loaded. …

I did a "replace with". I did this one time before with success but this time no love. The replaced device showed a green tag with 1011 in it. So I had to go through my scenes and programs reconstructing what was once there (to the best of my knowledge: What ramp rate? What brightness?). Maybe a routine could be added that tests communications to ensure replace with really "takes". If not it gives you another shot. Not sure why I ended up with the green tag and 1011? I deleted the new device, added it back, then rebuilt from scratch. Average bear.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to have the ISY send a prerecorded phone call in response to a specific condition. So so, what additional equipment is necessary? Or, initiating a call by an email sent to some internet service? If so, which one? Thanks.

I see these fans listed as devices in my ISY. I have a bad humidity problem and want to put in the 80CFM fan in a bathroom. I've read the Broan blurb about "intellisense" and I don't think I really want the Broan concept. I will most likely have 2 of these fans, but they prolly won't be linked together in any intelligent fashion via Broan lingo (so to speak....). I am not concerned with overall house ventilation requirements and tying the 2 fans together. I just need humidity removal from a bathroom. So it looks like there is really just an Insteon control running the fan. Does/can it respond to humidity? Could I turn the fan on/off with the ISY using a times…

Yesterday I upgraded to the latest 3.2 as well as updated the mobilinc app in itunes.. I do not know if any of the upgrades are related to my new problem but here it is and thanks for any help. 1. I have isy set up to send me a text when the garage door is closed as well as being able to monitor real time status of the sensor(opened/closed) 2. I have the garage door kit (io linc) set up in reverse mode and in Mom C-- when sensors are on it is open, when sensors are off door is closed Here is what I am seeing: When I open the garage .. it takes approx 5 seconds for the door to fully open and for the sensors to move into the on position (where they are clos…

I would like to leave the username and password blank. Security is not an issue in my environment. Is there a way to have NO username and NO password so the ISY opens up immediately in the browser? This would be especially useful on the iPad. Thanks.

My Brultech is off getting zigbeed and I do not have an RCS thermostat yet so I can't try this stuff out. Will the ISY act as a zigbee access point and conduct zigbee communications/relay for any zigbee device within range - or is it limited to just the ECM1240/Greeneye/RCS thermostat? And will it act as a zigbee gateway and forward packets on to the greater TCP/IP network ? I have seen a specialized zigbee gateway but I was wanting the ISY to do that functionality so I could avoid yet another wart. I wish all these devices would get some POE.

I have some programs set up in the bathroom to turn the lights off after x amount of time. The way I have it set up is adding 10 minutes of time every time you hit on. However, we also have it set so that turning on puts it at 80% lighting. Hitting it again for more time toggles it to 100%, and again back to 80%, etc. Any ideas on how to make it stop toggling from that, and only go to 100% from a fast on?

  17. If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set 'Hearth Keypad / Hearth Keypad' On 15 / Off 0 (Backlight Level) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') There is an On and an Off level? Is there a separate light for each button? When I set the buttons to non-toggle, each press is read as an "off" by ISY, it seems. why is this? thanks for any help.

Ok. I want to turn on my garage light for 10 minutes every time one of my two garage doors have changed state. How can I do this?

  19. Started by Sixburg,

All, I thought I had this figured out, but evidently I do not. I have an MS (2842) to activate lights in my kitchen. The MS and switch are linked via scene. I have a SIMPLE pair of body and condition programs to control activities. The cond program checks for activity on the MS: Kitchen Cond 1 If Control 'Main Floor / Kitchen Motion-Sensor' is switched On Then $Kitchen_State = 1 Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Kitchen Body 1 If $Kitchen_State is 1 Then Wait 1 minute $Kitchen_State = 0 Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') This works just fine in terms of b…

I'm sure this conversation has been brought about before however some of the Google links provided seem to be outdated. I recently purchased a ISY994iZS/IR PRO without doing more research than I should have in regards to the ideas planned. Here are my objectives. 1. INSTEON home lighting...currently being implemented 2. Currently looking for a electronic deadbolt. I have seen many posts suggesting morning linc however trying not to be a Diva, the only finished provided do not match the rest of my house. 3. Purchased the Zigbee ISY hoping that maybe it would correlate with my Ecobee however just recently read that it doesn't. I have also read that if a Z-wav…

EDIT: Oops, think I just found my solution tinkering around with it. Just saw the And (...)/ Or (...) Commands. I'll leave it here to see if I'm right, or for anyone else that doesn't notice maybe? Unless I should delete it. I'm not sure if this is answered somewhere else, I looked and couldn't find quite what I'm looking for (granted I am new at searching forums), and sorry i it has been. I'm trying to help my dad set up his programs, and he had one for his outside lights that wasn't working right. He wants it to turn his lights on an hour before sunrise, and turn them off 30 mins later. Here's what he had: If: Time is sunrise - 1 hour Then: Set Scene …

My dad and I have been toying around with the programs some, getting use to how the work and what not. We aren't quite sure of anything to do with variables in programs. I haven't been able to find much on them. Could anybody give me a start on how they are used, or what they are used for exactly? Or if there is already something out there to help, point me to it? Thanks for any help in advance!

  23. I'm looking to automate the common scenario of leaving the house and locking the door. I have been shy about using just a timer on locking the door after hitting the KeypadLinc Away button because I have 2 young children and you never know how long it's going to take. I was looking into adding a TriggerLinc (a.k.a. Wireless Open/Close Sensor): http://www.smarthome.com/2843-222/INSTE ... sor/p.aspx to make it more robust and I'm imagining the following psuedo program: Variable definitions: 'Door Sensor' = TriggerLinc (I'm not sure what the device exposes, I think it's like the MorningLinc in that it has 2 states, but I'll treat it as a normal controller as that's si…

Hi there, I'm about to take the plunge on an ISY and wanted to know what the real-world difference was between an ISY99i/IR Pro and an ISY994i? The reason I ask is that I have found an ISY99i/IR Pro for a significant discount, so was wondering if the differences between the two would be worthwhile. I understand the ISY994i has the ability to be upgraded via an add-in hardware module. For now, the hardware upgradeability is not that important for me. However, are there any other differences between the two units that would impact day-to-day operation? My install details are as follows: -I would like to purchase the Elk and Weatherbug add-in modules -The ISY woul…

The AND and OR parentheses buttons are not there on my Win 7 Java 6 update 33 machine running firmware 3.2.6 and UI 3.2.6. See attached screenshot. They do show up on my Win 7 64bit Java 6 update 35 machine (UI also 3.2.6). Have tried clearing the cache. No go.
