Thanks. Just a couple of questions if you don't mind. Can the speaker be set up to speak different phrases depending upon what triggers it and have you tried using the node server to trigger a phrase from the speaker

The speaker can say multiple phrases or recordings of your own voice or other sounds that can be tied to multiple triggers. I'm am stuck on PG2 since one of the node servers I need to move to PG3 and use the yolink Node server hasn't been ported.

I don't have Yolink but I see that they have a speaker that can be used for making user defined announcements. Just wondering if the Yolink node server would allow me to trigger various announcements via IoP programs if I get a Yolink system and the node server

    thanks,

    Gary

I have my yolink speaker sitting next to a google home device.  I use it to initiate google broadcasts of various messages throughout my home.  I imagine it could do anything a google home voice command can.

I haven't moved over to IoP yet, the 994 is still running the show. I have moved more to Home Assistant than previously.  Some newer purchases are only supported there and don't have node servers, in other cases it's just because I want to not pay for node servers that are maintained by one person each and if that person looses interest or doesn't have time anymore the node server seems to just die.  Under PG2 at least you had access to the code and could improve things on your own (I do have one PG2 node server that I improved on my own.)   Under PG3 there's no access to the source code.  So one day it might just quit working and someone would need to start from scratch.    I'll continue to rely on my ISY (either 994 or IoP for insteon, but my current goal is to rely less on ISY as controller and more on Home Assistant as the main controller.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that feels this way. Really liked PG on Raspberry Pi.  Reluctantly bought Polisy, but haven't had the courage to move to IoP, even though the node server I'd really like to add only runs on PG3, while at least one that  use heavily hasn't been ported from PG2 yet.  Thought about Home Assistant in the past and with both of the integrations I'd like to use being available, maybe it's time to take the plunge.

Been using Google Home with ISY since it became available.  A few minor issues in the beginning, but stable for at least 4 years.

Today I had to replace an Insteon Switch that had failed.  No replacements available so I took a switch that was largely unused out of a 3 way light circuit and used it.  The switch that failed had a spoken in google home.  I deleted it and replaced it with a new spoken for this replacement switch.  When I uploaded to Google home it told me the old switch was deleted and I added this one when it appeared with no room association.

Now nothing works.  Google home says "Offline" to all my ISY devices.  Have tried rebooting the ISY, re-uploading the spokens and deleting this replacement switch in the spokens. No dice.

    Help!  Please.

Well it turns out my changes to the switch were coincidental to another issue. Turns out my cottage, in Canada, is part of a nation wide internet outage on Rogers. This home also uses Google home and an ISY.  It was the first installation and @Michel Kohanimsuggested I try changing my preferred ISY to current location from it.  It worked! Nothing to do with the insteon device change.

    Thanks @Michel Kohanim!

I have a need to sense the amount of light and to trigger the action when that occurs. I think the IOLink could be used on the receiving end. I know Home Depot sells a simple light sensing device for $12 but I would like something that could have a simple threshold to be set (simple potentiometer would be sufficient).  Has anyone used any type of light sensing device with IOLink or On/Off micro or anything else?

This might be overkill, but if you have a weatherflow tempest weather station and use the Node server, you get real time access to both LUX and W/m^2.

Are you running a different application with the same credentials (like HA or similar) - It seems only one one application can use the same credentials at a time .  I am not 100% sure, but I have seen the same when using 2 different ISYs running the same code.   I see the code initializing but then nothing happens - it times out and reacquires the token.  I think another application has the control

I did find an error on the door sensor that I fixed - I did not update version yet but uploaded the fix I am travelling and cannot test the code change.

    Hey @Panda88,

Thanks for working so hard on this Node server!  The yolink stuff is awesome. The LoRa connections are really robust and battery life is so much better than the wireless tags I used previously.  I have an outdoor motion in the end of my dock some 400' from my hub and it works great.

The latest addition of the speakerhub creates so many interesting possibilities.  Have a look at this video where I use it to trip a broadcast on my google home devices triggered by a motion detector on my driveway.

Looking forward to other devices they create.

    Thanks again,

    Paul

Forgive me for hijacking the thread a little.  Just wanted you to know you work is greatly appreciated!

Wow, 15 outdoor fans?  Each with a z-wave fan controller? Mine all have 6 speeds plus variable speed and of course reversing. What I see on the Enbrighten controller you have to give up 4 of the speeds and the reversing of the fan.  Do you add another z-wave switch for the light also? I am guessing that you probably can't do RF with all of them since most fans only offer 2-3 RF channels to operate on.

12 are outdoors in my lanai and balcony.  Just used some of the same fans in minor bedrooms. Never reverse the outdoor ones and 3 speeds are more than enough for us.

  9. Hi,

I have 4 sets of 3 fans in my Lanai (Florida name for Covered Patio).  I am looking for Z-wave controllers that can work with groups of 3 identical fans. I have a number of the Enbrighten Fans Controllers, but the say they can only handle 2 fans.

    Any recommendations?

Has anyone used the Zooz Zen31 RGBW LED Controller? I just installed one and an confused at the many parameters it has installed when I included the device in my Z Wave system. Below is a list of them and I am hoping someone can explain the to me.

Did you have any trouble getting it to pair with the ISY.  Have mine about 3 feet away and no luck getting it to pair.

I understand your point, but it is just my personal experience with the limited longevity of PLM's. Unless I'd go entirely Insteon (which is doubtful with my more than 80 Zwave devices), it would mean adding another controller.

I am well aware of the great satisfaction and attachment that many here feel about Insteon, and I also understand that for some aspects Insteon may be the better technology. But right now I stick to my setup, but respect all of you and your choices.

Of course you are both right.  This reminds my of the whole VHS vs Beta debate/war. You need a player for both standards. Beta was clearly better from a technical point of view, like Insteon.  Problem was that Beta, like Insteon, was a closed environment controlled by a single manufacturer, in this case Sony. Insteon could have set the standard if they had opened it up from the beginning. Now sheer volumes of Z-wave devices drive costs down as do increasing levels of integration in the associated chip set.

Maybe folks are right that Smartlabs is on death march with Insteon.  Problem is I just put over 100 new switches in a new home and I my system to work for at least a few years until both Insteon and Zwave are history and we've moved on to Blu-Ray vs HD DVD.

Based upon the increasing lack of available Insteon devices for sale, as well as the Insteon communications and other problems noted in the thread above, the question is whether Smart Labs is going to drop the Insteon product line entirely.  Has anyone talk to them about possibly buying out Insteon?  They certainly do not seem to want to pursue that line of business.

Not sure that the lack of devices is any indication that they are considering dropping Insteon.  Global supply of chips is low, especially specialty analog chips for the western markets, as manufacturing of them is being pulling out of China. Major players demand is further exacerbating supply for small players like Smart Labs. Even North American auto makers are having to reduce production due to chip shortages.

Buying out Insteon would probably not improve supply issues.

Naw. I successfully added garage door. But.. they also make what you’re looking for. Same manufacturer.

Got one of them from amazon to test and it seems to work well.  I like the inclusion of brown covers.  Makes them less noticeable on my bronze colored doors. WIll see how the battery life is.

    Many thanks,

    @IT Solutions,

ISY is not procedural. ISY is event based. And, the events are handled in FIFO manner. So, if A happens before B, then the program that depends on A is evaluated before the program that depends on B.

    With kind regards,
    Michel

    @Michel Kohanim

So if I have two different programs, say one that runs from sunset to 11 and another that runs from sunset to sunrise, do they get cued in the FIFO randomly or perhaps in the order they were created? Maybe I've missed some documentation on this.

    Cheers,

    Paul
