Not really a newbie but I'm having trouble so... Have various insteon switches, an X10 plug in unit for the front door wreath, a Z wave plug in unit for an inside display and then outside goes into one of 2 outdoor insteon plug in units. This has been fine all week, no issues. Came home tonite, only half the outside is on, the Z wave and the X10. Light switches not on, 1 outside plug in unit not on. Reload in agave, they're not giving the right status. Tried switches NOT on the christmas program, they don't work either from agave. Looked at the ISY as I was sending signals from agave. ISY Tx and Rx blink once for each insteon/X10 signal sent, about 6 times on Z wave. PLM light green as expected, unplugged, replugged same behavior. Went through launcher to admin console, throws errors that it can't communicate with ANY of the insteon devices. Nothing new has changed as far as what's plugged in tonite vs what was plugged in/running yesterday (confirmed my husband's xBox isn't on since we know that's a suck). Already have the phase coupler in the panel and have for years. Again, all was fine until we came home tonite. Any guesses? This is why insteon kind of annoys me, I feel like it's very finicky.

It's a 300 series. Since I am not keeping this one, I didn't go through the upgrade.

awesome, thanks for confirming!

Sold one house, don't need 2 ISYs. Does NOT include PLM Selling ISY994i ZW. $75 + shipping from 18436 Can provide S/N on request.

Is there a way to factory reset it without having it on the network so to speak? i.e. power it up while pushing on the tiny unmarked pinhole in the front? Thanks! Will take a look there. Not sure what to ask for it. Looks like UDI sells refurb'ed non zwave for $99 and knowing there's more confidence buying refurb from company vs private sale, I was thinking $75'ish

Hi all, I've combined houses and both had an ISY so I don't need the second one. First question is how can I wipe out settings on the one I'm not using, and second question, is there a market for used ones? It's an ISY994iZW (NOT the newer ZW+). Just figured if someone wanted to get into this cheaper than new. Not selling the 2nd PLM with it because if my current one fails, I'll have a backup. thanks!

I do have some insteon switches yes and they seem to work fine. We put a phase coupler in the box years ago when we set the system up for my mother but I did notice some unreliability when we first moved into the house (this is my parents old house where the insteon already existed) that wasn't there originally so we weren't sure if things that got added with the remodel caused it or not but as of now, things seem ok with the switches. Now with Christmas upon us, I have old x10 plug in units in the mix as well so we'll see how those behave (also used in the past during the holidays when my mom was here but with the remodel who knows). I would actually like to add some more switches and perhaps outlets but it seems everything on amazon and smarthome is out of stock. I even tried to get an outdoor plug in module (we already have 2) and no dice on those. We aren't putting up our 12' tree this year since we're still unpacking boxes and that needed a filter with it so I'm hoping to limp through this holiday season and then really take a look at things over the winter when maybe stock comes back up. I do have a bunch of insteon switches and some X10 outlets I pulled from our old house before we sold it that I plan to try to make use of, I'm just not great with multiway switches and how those get wired so it's always a "trial". If I can get the bugs worked out (or kept at bay) I'm perfectly fine sticking with the insteon and x10 since it's what I know best. Going to post some separate threads related to used equipment (I have two smarthome hubs and an ISY) that I don't think I have use for now that we just have the one house and also looking for options to deal with a particular type of switch that I have for an overhead fan/light in the bedrooms.

I can't believe I forgot about the launcher. When I used to link from my desktop, all is right with the world!! Firmware and UI versions match and it no longer says "not implemented". Woot woot!!!! So now I think I'm going to look for some more zwave plug in units since zwave seems like it'd be more stable than insteon. Might even do some wall switches too tho I need to read up on how 3 way or 4 way switches work with zwave (if their install is any different than insteon). What does zwave plus do vs zwave regular? Can I keep the 300 board for now, get zwave plus devices and have them work but maybe not to their full potential? Thanks guys for the whack over the head about the launcher!!

From what I just read on the wiki, if I go to a higher 5.x then I will lose the 300 series z wave capability and I'm pretty sure that's what I have based on how old the ISY is and the looks of the back of it when the partly cut out circle.
-
I can't believe I'm about to say this but on my phone using Agave, I can control the light just fine (within a reasonable distance from the ISY of course since it's my only zwave device at the moment). Yet on my PC in the admin console activity log, I get error after error with every comment sent to the Inovelli plug in unit. Looks like my firmware is 5.0.13 and the UI is 4.7.3 (both from summer 2018) so I'll read up on getting things upgraded and see what happens. So weird tho that it seems to work in Agave (only shows the zw02 on/off switch, nothing for the seen like I see in the admin console, if it's even important). My insteon switches and such aren't the most stable things in the world so I also need to read up on zwave in general to see if maybe it's time to start switching over.

I can't believe I'm going to bring up a 2 year old topic (I was the OP so it's ok right???) but I'm still having the same darn issue. In the last 2 years I haven't played with it much because I didn't need to but now.... We've sold a house, moved into the one that had the ISY/z wave plug in units before and I STILL cannot get this to work. Factory reset of the dongle did nothing and it seems like it just keeps adding z wave on/off power switch and scene buttons but always says "not implemented". I have the Inovelli plug in unit 3 feet from the ISY so it cannot be a distance issue. Any way to solve this mess?
-
Sorry, What is the dongle? Maybe I'm missing a big part of this. I thought I just needed the isy with z wave capability on it
-
Never heard of "heal" so nope, I never did that. The crazy thing is it's not just the lock, a simple plug in outlet thing doesn't even work and both of those (that I got purely to help build the mesh network) don't work either. I have one outlet right next to the ISY and it doesn't work right. I at one point did move the ISY to the base of the door, still no love. It's like the ISY doesn't like z wave.
-
Not sure what you mean? It adds the two items to the list, an on off power switch and a scene button (which has nothing in the right/big screen where the other one just has "on" I did the exclude/include about 5 times and still get the same issue along with that "not implemented" error
-
I need to revisit this one since I never got it working and really need to. I started clean by excluding the plug in unit (I plugged it into an outlet about 2' from the ISY) and it took it off the list. I included it, did the button tap, it added it back as two line items (like above), and gave the not implemented error. When I then took into into a bedroom and plugged it into a wall with a lamp on it the lamp came on because the physical lamp switch is set to on since it was on a dumb timer and in the admin console, I do see the status as "on" but I have no way to control it. Even tho ultimately, I want to get the schlage lock in play here, I figured testing with a lamp was best first. Anyone have any ideas?
-
I should add that it appears to add 2 things for the same plug in unit, a scene button and an on-off power switch. Not sure if that's normal.
-
Back to this one. I got two of the plug in units and I'm getting the same error with them that I did on the lock itself. I have the one I was starting with plugged in a foot away from the ISY (because it said I could move it after) and I put the ISY in exclude mode, hit the plug in button 3 - 5 times quickly, it excluded it. Then I put the ISY in include mode, hit the button 3 - 5 times, it finds it, but it detects it just fine and updates things but still says "error - not implemented" and shows this in the console, with nothing down below
-
Ok thanks for the insight. I've got two plug in units on the way to arrive Tuesday so I'll report back on this thread then.
-
Does it seem reasonable that it connects and sees it but doesn't allow control and keeps giving the "error" because of bad communications? Looks like I will order up a few of the NZW36s. I assume I don't need anything actually plugged into them just using them to help repeat the signal? Unfortunately, the only place between the door lock and ISY is next to the door about a foot away in an outlet and another outlet further down that hall. It's the front door of a foyer that is about 10' wide and 40' long.
-
Yep I only get the top part, the locked and battery number. Nothing below that. And now that I've put the ISY back where it belongs about 40' away, it can't communicate with it and keeps popping up the white box on top of white box.
-
Not quite sure what to make of this. This time, with the ISY sitting a the base of the door, so can't get any closer, it found it just fine and RIGHT after it found it it said "error not implemented" in red, then it just kept going. That box then just changed to all white with "error" in upper left, "X" in upper right and an "ok" button in the middle. That box won't go away but behind it the ISY admin console is reading the lock state and changes from locked to unlocked appropriately when we manually move the lock. There doesn't appear to be buttons to hit lock/unlock from the ISY so maybe that's part of the error? I did find that it's actually 3 of those white boxes on top of the one with the red error text so I had to close 3 of them to get back to the regular one Appreciate all your help on this one!

Ok let me go get a longer Cat5 cable and report back.
-
Yep deadbolt is extended. The ISY (and router and all) is probably about 40' away I believe I got the thing excluded finally from the hub. I did a general device exclusion on the phone, punched in the code + 0 on the lot and got the check mark. So that's progress. So now the hub should not be in the mix at all right? I have no "things" in the ST app on the phone now. But if I go to the ISY admin console, and go to z wave add/include, it says listening, then I go put the code in, and it says "the z wave network failed to securely include your new device. Please exclude the device and try including it again." So I did the exclude on the ISY admin consol, and this time I got the green light after I put in the code. Then I did the add on the admin console, this time it found it and started to do things but then came back and said it failed to securely include your new device and try again.
-
They reference a "devices" tab that does not exist in my smart things phone app.... I did manage to find a Z Wave Utilities screen in the app and went into "general device exclusion" and hit "remove" where it said it'll put the device in exclusion mode so I hit that and it says "exclusion move active" but a circle spins in front like it's waiting and then there's a cancel button under it. But then back in the console, nothing happens when I either exclude of add. It just says listening. While it was in this exclusion mode on the phone, I also tried the master code + 0 on the lock and nothing changes.
-
Sorry for being dumb about this but how do you exclude it from the smart things hub? I only have the app and don't seem to have anything in there to do that
