  1. Then I have to suspect it's having issues with writing links to the newer Switchlincs. We need to focus on getting you up to 3.3.10 first. The new switchlincs are I2CS protocol which the old firmware does not support. -Xathros
  2. Go to the Java control panel applet and enable the Java console. That will let you see if there are java errors when you click around in the admin console. Also, verify that the Firmware and UI versions are the same under Help / About in the admin console. -Xathros
  3. Which one did you click to start the replacement? The New or the Old? It sounds to me like you started with the new and replaced it with the old. -Xathros
  4. Perfect! Check the address - that should be the new one - looks like the replace worked as it should have. -Xathros EDIT: The above reply was to your previous post. I suspect you have an ISY-99, in that case, you want Firmware version 3.3.10 as that is the latest and final version for the 99. At some point, you may need to upgrade to a ISY-994 for support of newer devices as the 99 has reached its end due to insufficent space for larger firmwares. Ver 3.3.10 should work with your new Switchlinc Dimmers but will not work with the latest Keypadlincs that are shipping now. What progress bar are you referring to? The download or the install ? -Xathros
  5. After the replace ran, do you still have the new device listed or just the old one ? -Xathros
  6. The Add New Device should work as well. Just a slightly different procedure with the same end result. Using startlinking, the ISY waits to here a link request from the device and when it does, it gets the device type and makes the link. Are you saying the device you want to add is not in the list of devices types? What version of the ISY firmware and UI are you running? Also, what are the new devices you are attempting to add? -Xathros
  7. Hi Julie- You will first need to add the new devices to the ISY with temporary names different than those they are replacing: Select Start Linking from the ISY menu, then go to each new device and press the set button for 5 seconds (until it beeps). Then click Finish on the add dialog and wait for the ISY to complete adding the devices. Rename the new devices with temp names to help you id them in the next steps. Next, make sure that the old device(s) that you want to replace is NOT in a folder. If it is, right click it and select remove from folder. Then right click the old device and select "Replace with..." and select the replacement device added above. Keep in mind that to use "Replace With..." the replacement device must be of the same type as the device it is replacing or it will not show up in the list of available devices to replace with. Replace dimmers with dimmers, relays with relays etc. -Xathros

  9. Check the notification manager in the iPhone settings and make sure you haven't suppressed the Mobilinc notification. -Xathros

The 4 Tap test is used with Dual band devices like access points to verify that they are in RF range and on opposite 120v legs of the power feed. Tap the set button on a dual band device 4 times. It's LED will start blinking. Look at other dual band devices. Any whose LED's are blinking are in range. The color that they blink indicates if they are on the same or opposite phase as the test originator. Look to the individual device's manuals for specifics on the LED color meanings. Access points generally have better RF range than your standard dual band device. -Xathros
  12. The micro module is small enough to likely fit in the exterior box. I see no need to move it back inside as long as your box will be weather tight. -Xathros

Hi Don- Last time this happened to me, I found that one of my Access Points had locked up and needed a power cycle. I discovered this while attempting a 4 tap test. One of my AP's didn't respond at all. Unplugged and replugged and all started working again. Run a 4 tap test on one of your access points and make sure the others respond. Also, as oberkc pointed to above, are you seeing any status changes in the ISY from any insteon device? -Xathros
  14. Hi Jerry- Yes. The device usually used for this is an InlineLinc with Sense. -Xathros EDIT: Inlinelinc W/Sense appears to be discontinued and replaced with the MicroModule OnOff with Sense: http://www.smarthome.com/2443-222/INSTE ... ule/p.aspx
  15. Sounds to me like your server is requiring POP before SMTP. In other words, log in to check the incoming mail before you can send outgoing mail. You might check and see if it can be configured for smtpauth instead of pop before smtp. Otherwise, I'm using gmail smtp with excellent results. Might be an alternative for you. -Xathros
  16. Having any ports open is always a risk. Port 443 somewhat less so than the unencrypted port 80. With no open ports, there is no remote access so we live with the risk and try to mitigate it as much as possible with strong passwords, password change policies, Intrusion Detection routines in our firewalls and non obvious ports such as 33443 in place of 443. Any hacker willing to put in the effort to scan all 65535 ports for openings can find any port you open. Then it's a matter of finding a vulnerability in the responding device or brute forcing the user/pass combo. For many of us, the benefits outweigh the risks. -Xathros
  17. Or you can use Custom Email Substitution Variables to get device status as shown here: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... _Variables For Example: $(sys.node.11 22 AA 1.ST) for the Status of device 11.22.AA -Xathros
  18. What exactly do you mean by ISY device status ? -Xathros
  19. Certainly both do not need to be forwarded. I would try the advice from coder96 in an earlier post and forward a port other than 443 to the 443 secure port on the ISY. It's quite possible that the Airport is reserving 443 for it's own use with the Airport utility (Just guessing here). Try forwarding 33443 -> the ISY's IP at port 443 rhen try to connect from outside at https://your-public-ip:33443 -Xathros
  20. I would not forward port 80. That just opens the door for the hackers. -Xathros
  21. Hi Tammy- I'll have to agree with Jim then and place my bet on comms error. Might be a good idea to run a level 3 event log trace and operate the door a few times. That should give us an idea of the comms reliability. Since this is a random event, it may be difficult to track down. -Xathros
  22. As I recall, the Harmony programmer is very picky about device model name/numbers. Try a few variations of ISY, ISY99, ISY994, ISY-99, ISY-994/IR etc and see if you get different results. -Xathros
  23. Hi tcaywilson- Do you know if the trigger reverse uption is selected on your IOLinc? If so, this is likely the reason you see this anomaly. Trigger reverse causes the IOLinc to send the opposite state of the sensor when the sensor state changes, however, when the IOLinc is directly queried by the ISY (3am query) the TRUE state of the sensor is returned, not the reversed state. We have seen a lot of this since Smarthome dropped the dual contact mag switch from the garage door kit in favor of a normally open mag switch. The best solution in this case is to replace the door sensor with a normally closed mag switch and turn off the trigger reverse option. -Xathros
  24. Hi jonnyauto- First, I think you mean geofencing as geotagging is a method for tagging data with a location - commonly used with photos. As for the geofence in Mobilinc, go into the iOS settings, General, Privacy, Location Services and make sure Mobilinc is turned on there. Next Settings, General, Background App Refresh and make sure Mobilinc is enabled here. Next, go into Mobilinc settings, Location Settings. Turn on Notify On Boundary and make sure you have one or more locations listed below. Now, move into and out of the locations and see if Mobilinc notifies you of the boundary crossings. Dunno what the IM bug you referred to is. - Must not be affecting me. -Xathros

I am using Gmail SMTP which does require authentication and works just fine. The username and password fields on the Emails/Notifications tab is for exactly that. My Settings: Use Default: Unchecked Server: smtp.gmail.com Username: my gmail address Password: my gmail password. Port: 587 Timeout: 5000 ms From: Xath Home:myaddress@gmail.com TLS: Checked -Xathros
