  1. I have not restored any devices but I am seeing some very strange behavior with 3.1.9. I don't see anything very odd looking in the event viewer, except that there are open failed messages periodically for ELEC.CFG and ELECMTR, but I don't have any of the electricity stuff enabled. MobiLinc HD is behaving strangely: on the iPad it will not sync and on the iPhone it can see status but can't control lighting. I have had one light go on even though it should not have been commanded to (and this unit never displayed any problems in the past), and it did not show as on in the admin console display. Another light that was commanded on by a program just flashed on then off. A few more tries (the program is activated by a motion sensor) and it stayed on! Ghosts in the ISY? I think I will reboot, which I have never needed to do before.
  2. This morning using MobiLinc HD I could not reproduce the problem; tried both WiFi and 3G, worked fine.
  3. With 3.1.9 MobiLinc HD on my iPad seems to work fine, but MobiLinc HD on my iPhone takes forever to do a full download sync then shows no devices, programs, nothing!
  4. Lee, thanks for the response, I think. The ugly system design makes me ill! I guess whoever designed the PLM graduated low in his CS classes. I did not mean to imply that my communication issues were caused by anything other than the usual suspects - noisy and/or signal sucking line devices. I was just thinking that the communication issues might further contribute to corruption of the PLM.
  5. Lee, thanks for your responses. It is of course very difficult to ensure a quiet network in an occupied home, even more so with thermostats reporting temperature and humidity changes. I went out for the evening and came back with the activity still continuing after about 5 hours so I rebooted. I then added the second updated 2441V and went to bed (of course, there was some insteon activity while going to bed). That PM activity did terminate. But I'm left with a few questions: (1) isn't the PLM read and written though the USB connection? Why should Insteon activity interfere with reading/writing it? (2) doesn't the ISY-99 know what should be in the PLM already? and (3) now that I have aborted at least one PLM checking process, is there something I should do to insure that my PLM and ISY are indeed in sync? I should note that my Insteon network is not 100% reliable, and I have somewhat given up fixing it after numerous attempts and filters. Thanks Moderator: sorry for this off topic discussion, please move it if you want.
  6. No idea if this is related to the release, (and this is actual 3.1.8 not 3.1.9) but I just replaced a 2441V (classy of Smarthome to send free updates with no hassle). I installed and then replaced the old one and it has now been updating for over 40 minutes. The thermostat is only used in one program and not linked to anything. 7. Yes, yes, and apparently, yes (thanks Lee). Note that mine are v1.0, not 2.0. Ron
  8. Cleared the Java cache and turned off caching, used the universal-devices/3.1.7 applet. Right click on any of my 3 linked 2420Ms and do not get an option to replace. Right click on a KPL and I get "Replace xxx KPL with" and a list of possible replacement devices.
  9. That seems reasonable. But why can't I replace a 2420M with another 2420M?
  10. Factory reset did it. In fact I was trying that when your post came in. Proving yet again that coincidence is not causality. Thanks!
  11. Thanks Lee. i guess I need to make a better report: I removed the 2420M from the ISY, cleared the log and then relinked it with "New Insteon Device" and the proper device address and specified 2420M, holding the button in for 5 seconds first and getting the blinking LED. I then pressed the button twice to get the 2420M back to normal operation and then waved my hand in front of it, twice. As you can see in the log it reported low battery (I measured 9.05V) instead of motion! Jumpers 1 and 4 are installed. Any ideas? 12. Michel, thanks for the tip about ADR being enabled - although I am not sure how it ever got turned on. However, I am still have results with the 2420M that are so strange that it is difficult to report them in detail. I have linked and relinked two different 2420Ms and they exhibit behaviors like not sending motion messages and sending low battery alerts with fresh batteries. The one 2420M that is in my system that I have not relinked continues to work fine. I only use the 2420M to active programs, they are not linked to any other devices. They are all version 1.0. Can someone else test linking a 2420M to 3.1.7 and see if it works? Otherwise I will try to post more details of my problems. Thanks
  13. Some programmatic settings work, for example LED brightness and delay: v1 does not have any other way to control those! I have been happily using V1 motion sensors until today. There are no icons to the left of the motion sensor nodes.
  14. So yesterday I installed 3.1.7 and in the middle of the night noticed that a 2420M was misbehaving - sending out motion sense messages with no motion. I found that the battery was very low (3V) so I replaced it and was still getting strange behavior, so I decided to try replacing the 2420M. After discovering that there does not seem to be a "replace device" for the 2420M I linked to the new sensor with a new name, then used find/replace to edit all my programs. I then set the options in the 2420M (it is a v1.0) with both the jumpers and the options setting dialog. Now whenever there is motion I get: Thu 09/15/2011 16:55:40 : [MOD-OADR] Network error in the log. No other messages around the time of motion. Now what?
  15. Well, I guess nobody has any other ideas? You are right about the programming of the motion sensor, but does it matter? If the ISY removes the link in the target device, and leaves the motion sensor to be programmed later, doesn't that just mean that the motion sensor will send a command that gets ignored? Bad manners perhaps, but wouldn't it have the desired effect?
  16. I have motion detectors that I use both as occupancy sensors and to control lights. During certain hours they turn the lights on, at other times they do not affect the light setting. This is all easy enough to do with the lights completely controlled by programs. However, I know I can get a faster response if I have the motion sensors programmed to "On only" and have them be controllers to the lights. But how can I achieve the timed function? If I use Adjust Scene the only thing I can do is set the brightness that the motion sets, which is not what I want (I don't want to force the lights off with motion during the day). It seems what I need is a version of Adjust Scene that removes or adds a responder to a scene: then I can add the light when I want it to be controlled and remove it when I don't. Any other thoughts?
  17. An "older version of 2.8.4"??? Michel, do your programmers get their pay docked for taking too many numbers out of the storeroom? You should let them in on the secret that their are AN INFINITE NUMBER of numbers. And they are free! If you need a new version of 2.8.4, call it 2.8.5 and avoid all the confusion!
  18. In hopes that it will help clean up my ongoing communication problems (and eliminate unsightly APs plugged into the wall) I'm thinking of replacing a few 2476Ds with 2477Ds. I know that usually the "replace device" function in the isy requires identical device types. Is there any way for me to do my proposed replacements without having to do a full remove/add operation for each switch in every scene? P.S. I saw the one post about problems with the 2477D flashing halogen lights. Any other negative or positive reviews of the 2477D would be appreciated.
  19. Jim, read the instructions. The alpha updates are not automatic.
  20. Yes, I have enabled macros.
  21. I assume by "group" you mean "button". The whole KPL gets restored regardless of the selected button.
  22. Look at the version reported by the ISY on the device screen. It should be something like v.36
  23. Does that mean that a restore of any problem KPL will put it back in sync?
  24. They don't work for me either, I just haven't complained. I also have a problem on the Mac opening the Log file in excel, it gets an empty file; I can download the log to text just fine.
  25. This is all very nice and flexible, but wouldn't it make sense to have any new controller added to a scene default to the scene settings? That is probably what you want most of the time and it would avoid confusing newbies. It certainly confused me!
