It is purely time (and occupancy) control. No control based on climate or humidity. You can manually change the time settings in each season but the ISY can do better than that ?

Thanks for everyone's responses. Simple is good (maybe better), but if I wanted simple I probably wouldn't have the ISY to begin with So, I am going to play around with implementing kclenden's program. I can't let that effort go to waste! A question...I am currently just running the first program I posted. When I turn the switch on the fan comes on. When I turn it off the fan turns off. If it's left on it runs for an hour and shuts off. jec6613 said I should be turning off the scene, not the switch, yet it appears to be working (I think). If the switch is a controller for the scene then why would one need to turn off the scene rather than the switch? I have Ecobee Smart thermostats that the control my HVAC system. The Ecobee's have ACC terminals and are intended to control a ERV/HRV or Humidifier. I was contemplating just having the Ecobee control the HRV (turns out I have an ERV but whatever). They are not currently wired to do so. I wondered if the Ecobees use humidity levels to control the HRV after reading larryllix's response, so I called Ecobee. Turns out they only use timer settings. You set percent of time to run when occupied or unoccupied and it cycles the terminals. So, no magic there. I might as well just use the ISY to do it. There is a Low and High Humidity Alert on the Ecobee so if the HRV would run too long I will get an alert from the Ecobee and can determine the cause of the problem then. Anyway, thanks again and I will let you know (kclenden) how the program works. May get around to setting it up this weekend. -Tom

I have a bathroom fan that is piped into the house HRV system. When the bath fan is turned on it actually turns on the HRV which pulls air out of the bathroom (as well as any other return air vents). I had this on a (now obsolete) TimerLinc Countdown switch which died. I am replacing that with a simple On/Off SwitchLinc. The SwitchLinc will trigger an IOLinc on the airhandler to call for the HRV to come on. My HVAC contractor advises me that the HRV should be run a percentage of time per hour regardless of the fan being on or off. They say 20-50% per hour. I didn't do this before, it only came on when the bathroom fan was used. So, I want to set up a program to trigger the IOLinc to be on every hour for a given amount of time, let's say 15 minutes per hour. But, if someone turns on the bathroom fan switch I want to also turn on the iOLinc (if off) and start a timer. After 1 hour (if the switch is not turned off) it should turn the switch off (and tell the IOLinc to turn off). So, essentially the fan switch in the bathroom is just a 1 hour timer on the fan regardless of what else is happening. I'm not sure how to do the percentage time program.. Also, if someone goes in the bathroom and leaves the fan switch on, I don't want the percentage time program to run as well because the fan will have already run for an hour, however if someone turns the fan on for a couple minutes and then shuts it off I still want the percentage time program to run... Oh, and I have a scene, BATHFANCONTROL that has the SwitchLinc as controller and IOLinc as responder. So I assume turning the SwitchLinc on/off in the program will cause the IOLinc to be triggered from the scene, yes? I am thinking I want one program: BATHFan-Timer: If Control 'BATH-FAN-SWITCH' is switched On Then Wait 1 hour Set 'BATH-FAN-SWITCH' Off Else No Actions And a second program: HRV-Percentage: Not sure what this program should look like...? Any suggestions? -Tom

I have a couple TimerLincs (I think that is what they were called) in a couple bathrooms to control the fans. These are linked to IOLincs which are attached to my furnaces. When someone pushes one of the timer buttons (1m, 5m, 10m, 15m, etc) the HRV on the furnace runs in high to draw moist air from the bathroom and exhaust it to the outside. These have been in place for many years. From time to time over the years for whatever reason these stop working. I can pull out the little reset tab and reset them, and/or reset the IOLincs and they work again for a time. Until they don't. Well recently one of the seems like it won't control the IOLinc no matter what I do. I am kind of fed up with messing with them. These TimerLincs aren't made anymore from what I can find. I am wondering if people just don't use timers, or if there is another solution? I am thinking maybe just putting in regular switches that will signal the IOLincs instead. Won't have the timer function but...

I finally got to the site to figure this out. I did have to follow Michel's link to push the reset button on the ISY and then re-set the password. Not sure what happened, why it changed in the first place, but all is recovered and well. Thanks to all. -Tom

BTW, when my wife connects to the ISY while directly on the same network (not remote) she gets the same thing. It appears as if the UID/Password combination isn't correct. Again, I am quite sure it is, unless of course the box was hacked somehow and the password changed. -Tom

I have an ISY at a remote location. For about the last couple months I have noticed that my mobile app can't access anything there. My wife is at the location now and it appears that the ISY is fine and operating but I cannot log into it. It claims my userid and password aren't correct (this is trying to access it using "https://name.foo:443"). I get the login screen but my UID and PW are rejected. I have no idea why they would not be accepted, no change has been made that I am aware of. Also, once while trying to log in, it would behave as if the uid and pw were accepted but it would just sit on the blue screen with "System Busy" showing at the bottom. I could click on a tab, like "Configuration" and it would populate (after a delay) but all fields would be blank. But mostly I just get UID and PW rejected and presented with the dialog again. Any idea how I can get past this? The most recent backup of the config I have is 3 years old (version 4.2). Nothing has changed in terms of devices or configuration in that time there but I have updated the software (it's probably running 4.6.2). Could it be related to certs or anything? I did change computers a few months back... -Tom

Do you know why they discontinued it? Bummer on needing a Micro Module to disable On button. Just seems silly to spend nearly $100 to control a fan. I guess I may have to re-train the family Or perhaps just look for a non-insteon solution. I don't really need them to be insteon, it was just convenient when I found the countdown module... -Tom

Occupancy sensor isn't ideal for a couple reasons. One of the locations has the fan and the switch for the fan in small room (WC) with the toilet. So to run the bathroom fan you have to reach into the WC to enable the fan. Occupancy may not be detected. Secondly, I don't necessarily want the fan to come on every time someone goes in the bathroom. I want them to turn it on as needed. I was wondering if the countdown timer got discontinued because some other device can perform the same function. Could a regular keypad linc be a countdown timer? I liked the fact that the countdown timer did not have an "On" button. That is, you couldn't just turn the fan on, it was always a time selection from 1min to 2 hours, and it had an Off button. Can a Keypad linc be configured like that? -Tom

I have 2484DWH8 KeypadLinc Countdown Timers (v.2D) on several fans in my house. Had a recent power outage and when the power came back on one of those appears to be dead. I went to buy a replacement and don't see it listed anywhere. Is there a different one I am not finding or is there another way to implement the countdown timer keypad linc? They have worked quite well for the purpose of ensuring my family doesn't leave fans running in bathrooms... -Tom

So if I simply have: If Status 'CondensateIOLinc-Sensor' is Off Then Send Notification to 'sms' content 'Condensate Pump Problem' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Will this work? If the pump overflows and the -Sensor signals Off will I get notified? It seems to work fine if I trigger it by hand....

As it says in the manual for the condensate pump, it comes from the factory wired to COM and NO. What this means in practice is that when the pump is NOT overflowing (ie, the way it should be operating most of the time) COM and NO are a closed circuit. Apparently Little Giant's interpretation of "normal" is when the pump is overflowing . So this means that the other contacts (NC) are actually open typically and they close when the pump overflows. In spite of that, and as you suggest, I connected the wires from COM/NO to the IOLinc. This causes the LED on the IOLinc to light and I am getting IOLinc-Sensor == On in the ISY. The program to alert me when the pump overflows can be written either way, so I don't really care. The LED on the IOLinc is on all the time (good condition) and off if the pump overflows (bad condition), and really that too is fine. Green is good, off is bad - I can probably remember that and the real alert is the text i'll get anyway, not the LED. Now to write my program... -Tom

Thanks Stu. Is there a way (other than using the NO contacts) to reverse the behavior of the indicator? I would like to have the indicator come on with pump failure, but more importantly, I want the result of a relay failure to send me a message. Using the NO contacts, if the relay itself fails, I may not get notified.... -Tom

I recently had a leak detector alert me when one of my condensate pumps failed (yay!). The new pump has a safety switch on it (pump was cheaper on Amazon with the switch than without). It is a relay that is closed during normal operation though I could rewire to be open if need be. If the pump fails to evacuate the tank for some reason a float will rise and open the relay. I figured I can use that with an IOLinc to send me an alert BEFORE the overflow rather than waiting on my leak sensors to alert me after there is water on the floor. Do I connect the NC relay to the GND and Sense terminals on the IOLinc? -Tom

When I select File -> ISY Restore I get the attached dialog and if I click on it it runs the restore, I don't get to select a file.... Nevermind, I didn't make my way through the dialogs... Was thinking of restore modem...

I have a backup of this ISY from mid-May when I updated it's firmware from 4.2.18 to the current 4.2.30. How do I go about restoring that backup to the ISY and will it be ok to restore one from older firmware? -Tom
