  1. oh crap! I kept see this and thinking that it was the same cable... I should still have that cable in my drawer but if i don't can i order one off of amazon?
  2. No I am just starting fresh with my Polisy. I only have Insteon in my kitchen and hallway. I am going to rewrite how they control stuff anyway so I actually want a clean slate for the devices and PLM. I almost decided to put in z-wave devices but don't want the cost after the new Polisy. I have it cable it came with, it is the one I am using to connect the PLM to my ISY
  3. Is there a specific procedure to remove a PLM from my ISY and restore it on my IoP Polisy? Or can i just delete all of my Insteon devices and power off my ISY, unplug the PLM from the isy, plug it into the Polisy and follow the instructions for enabling Insteon on the Polisy: INSTEON Support Connect the PLM to your Polisy Polisy supports the following PLMs: 2412S and 2413S through the DB9 connector on the back. 2413U and 2448A7 through the USB port on the back. If you have a 2413S (serial), you will need a cable that looks like this Go to the Admin Console | Configuration tab Check INSTEON Support Checkbox Click the Save button Click on the Reboot button. My Insteon setup is small enough that i can easily recreate what i have and i am going to be making some changes anyway. Thanks in advance,
  4. I have an ISY and a new IoP that I am moving everything to. Can I open an admin panel for both at the same time on the same computer? I am assuming this should not be a problem but I don't want to cause problems.
  5. I am playing with my new Polisy and want to install a weather NS but there are so many. Some are free some are not, I don't mind paying a little but would like to know what I am getting and what people who have experience suggest....
  6. Should I update my z-wave devices firmware? and what is the best way to do that? I am a little confused about z-wave device firmware updates. As I understand it now the ISY/IoP cannot update z-wave devices. Soon I will be moving my devices from my old ISY to my new Polisy/IoP, and figure this would be a great time to see if some of my devices need to be updated.
  7. I had several z-wave bulbs before i started switching to hue bulbs, and i really like the hue app for creating the scenes compared to creating them on the isy. just my opinion, maybe i just like playing with the hue app ? My understanding is the polisy can do it all. When mine comes in i am going to set mine up and run both for a while while i slowing switch everything over to the Polisy. You can do some sort of migration over to the Polisy but i don't know much about that. I am trying to figure out what i want to do withmy ISY when i am done with it.
  8. I am going to attempt to answer some of your questions but please remember that I am a newbie, i had a lot of the same questions that you have. I just ordered a Polisy and will be moving everything there. With the node server I think you can add your hue devices (and groups, not 100% sure on this) like any other device you are use to in the ISY but not the hue scenes. If you want to use the hue app to create scenes and call those scenes from the ISY it appears the best option is to just call the hue scene with at Network Resource to call that specific scene. It does appear that there is some scene interaction in the NS but there is something about the way it generates the names that won't match to the isy. You can also create the scenes in the ISY directly and call them there with the NS. The NS will keep the ISY up to date on the status of devices so if you use the hue app or accessories to turn on a light or group you should be able to trigger an event from that. Take what I said with a grain of salt because i don't even have my Polisy yet ?‍♂️?‍♂️, i am just basing this off the research i have been doing on here over the last couple of months.
  9. Thank you. I only have one PLM but Insteon really is only in a couple of my rooms, the rest is z-wave. I figured once I got the z-wave all set up I could tackle the PLM move and set up. (or replace it with z-wave stuff and try and sell off the insteon) My worry with running the 2 z-wave networks is keeping both networks strong enough to run both at the same time while I move devices from one system to another. but once I get things going i should be able to move fairly quickly finishing other rooms. This would be a great time to have a map of what my z-wave network looks like so I can strategically remove devices from my old mesh.
  10. Is it possible to set up a new Polisy (using ISY on Polisy) and keep my old ISY in place? I just purchased a Polisy and plan on using IOP as my main system. I don’t want to attempt to do a migration and would rather start fresh. I would like to get the new system up and running before switching everything over. My current setup works and I don’t want to have to trouble shoot it trying to get it working right if it does not work properly. I also don’t like how some of my current setup is in my ISY and want to start from scratch with all new naming conventions, programing, etc.
  11. I am looking at getting to bond hub to control several fans I am planning to buy as we redo our house. I am confused how the bond works with the node server. I really want to control the fan speeds with the isy but from what I read on the bond forum is that it mimics the remote that comes with the fan. If the remote only has a single fan button that cycles through the fan speeds not dedicated high, med , low buttons how does the isy control the fan speed with the bond hub.
  12. While I don't think these switches are perfect they give everything we need to accomplish what we want. While we think we may want everything to work a certain way and that be the standard there will always be people who disagree and want something else. I feel (and I am still a newbie, so take this statement how you want) these switches have the basic physical software structure to do almost everything we want, we just need to figure out the software side on our platform of choice. What I would find more useful is the ability to create, distribute, and/or sell some sort of reusable code blocks in the ISY with a wizard to set up and share common tasks and automations with each other. For example once i set up one Zen32 with a hue scene using programs, variables, and NRs it would be nice to be able to set it up to be repeatable around the house for different rooms and share all the pieces with others instead of having to do a complete writeup on what variables to set, copy and paste of the programs, etc... At the same time I don't expect this and understand how complicated this would be and am perfectly happy the way it stands.
  13. The most confusing part of the zen32 is the relay status vs actual state. I disconnected the relay so they are always on and I can use the main Button Press as a on off toggle but I have a backup where I x5 press little button 4 to turn on the relay incase it somehow gets turned off (I had a power outage and some of mine turned off ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️) but the on off relay status is not actually tied to the relay, it just toggles after any button press ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️ With the programing and variables my main Button works fine. Press it once and the hue lights come on and the led indicator turns green. Press it again and it turns off and the led indicator turns back to white. Double, triple, etc presses turn on to different scenes and a single press will still turn the lights off.
  14. The big button is tied to the on/off relay that is why it works like that. You are actually tied to the on/off relay that is why it "works". If you untie the relay control from the button, the button will work just like the rest of the little ones... i think.... try using variables to control on/off in your programs. I set up programs to turn on and off lights, then create programs triggered by a button press and the state of a variable that calls one of the on/off programs, then changes the variable state.. I just use 0 for off and 1 for on in the variable. Pressing the button again will make another program run because the state of the variable is different. as an example one of my switches that controls hue lights: single press calls a bright hue scene and sets my status variable to 1. A second press turns the lights off and sets the variable to 0. Double press sets a concentrate scene and the variable to 1, triple press sets a night light scene and the variable to 1. double and triple presses will always result in lights on. Single press is depended on if the lights should be on or off. ?‍♂️ feature or not it can work. I am sure there are easier and better ways too ?‍♂️
  15. I started using these switches around the house and after coming to terms with all the drawbacks listed above came up with a system that works for me. Long explanation short: I program the the button press event to change variables to off or on (0 or1). That variable is what I use instead of the on or off scene status that seems to be missing in these controllers compared to the insteon controllers. It is a little more complicated and requires a little bit more work but I like them better than my 8button insteon switches.
  16. Thank you, ? they have variable speed exhaust fans... my wife has always done her makeup in the bathroom and would run the celling fan to keep the air circulating and keep the air from getting stagnate. I figured a couple of exhaust fans running at a lower speed could pull some fresh air in to make the room more comfortable. I think the fan takes up too much room. Ata a minimum i am going to replace it with a lower profile one with out a light kit once we get the can lights put in.
  17. I have been on the fence about getting a Polisy and was wondering what I could do with my old ISY if I upgrade to the Polisy. I have a “guest house” that is right next to my main house where my mother lives on our property. It is close enough where we easily share internet through an orbi mesh satellite, but probably too far away for my z-wave mesh to work reliably. Is it possible to use my old ISY to as a controller for her house and the attached shed and outdoor lights all controlled by the new Polisy at my house? It would be great to have some smart light interaction between the houses and my walk to our barn.
  18. This would be a great time for UD to reach out there and offer a solution.....
  19. The technology is great, it seems so much easier to work with and more reliable than the z-wave. It would be wonderful if it got a new life somewhere else ?
  20. Thank you, Having speed control would be nice... ?
  21. Is it possible to control bathroom vent fans with the ISY (z-wave wall switches)? I would like to be able to control the vent fans in our bathroom with the ISY, and ideally be able to have some sort of speed control like a regular celling fan. We are redoing our master bathroom and will have two different exhaust fans and it would be nice to control them based on situations and not have to run them full blast all the time because of the noise. Right now we have a ceiling fan in our bathroom that keeps the air circulating but we are planning on removing it and putting in recessed lighting. (recessed above fan = strobe light ??). Also, my kids keep leaving their exhaust fan on in their bathroom ?‍♂️?‍♂️.
  22. That makes sense... I just added several zwave switches and moved several devices around and my network was all wonky. Now it is much better. I am trying to build out my zwave network as much as possible for mesh reliability and thought I had made a mistake.
  23. I might be crazy but it seems that my z-wave network seems to get better a couple of days after I make changes.... Is there something going on in the background of the ISY to learn and improve the z-wave network?
  24. I have some z-wave switchs/scene controllers and they have the option to disconnect the relay so pressing the button does not control the load. Does Insteon have this property on the kepad switches or would I have to physically rewire it?
  25. I have this working now. Thank you for helping.
