Adding an X10 device - do I need an EZX10RF and/or do I need to purchase the A10/X10 Module from UD
Thanks MrBill. Do you know what this EZX10RF device is?

Adding an X10 device - do I need an EZX10RF and/or do I need to purchase the A10/X10 Module from UD
I thought with the Insteon/Smarthome PLM X10 devices could be added reasonably easy (that was just a guess.) I see if I try to add an X10 device though the UD console it gives a warning message about the EZX10RF will be reset. Are these EZX10RF devices available on the used market? On the UD Portal - it says: Support for A10/X10 devices incorporated into the tree and managed through the Admin Console' Main tab rather than the Programs tab. $9.00 I don't see anything listed on the Programs tab about X10 - unless that's because I do not have any X10 devices yet.

Has anyone tried to use an 8-panel 2334 as all switches (and not dimmers)
Damn. I see that Insteon at one point made at least the 6 button version in a switch (non-dualband) model ending with S but I have never seen an 8 button unless it's just the kit needed to change from 6 to 8.

I would like to install one of these but my lights are all florescent - no dimming. Could one of these just be set to 0.1s ramp-rate or am I risking something going wrong with the ballasts?

SQL error on UD Mobile when I try to sync
Well, things seem to be working just fine. I followed all of your tests. I was able to sync now on local network. I added my wifi network back as an associated network. Thanks for your help.

SQL error on UD Mobile when I try to sync
Definitely not an invalid IP address. It’s good in UD Mobile, username, password correct. Search icon finds it I think the answer is that I had a wifi network (my only wifi network in the house) associated with it. So it seems like there was a double wifi network hop. My iPhone is on the house wifi but within the UD Mobile app I associated the house wifi with it. Something like: iphone —> wifi network —> wifi network —> ISY but this always worked: iphone —> cell LTE —> ISY so I think now it’s working as: iphone —> wifi network —> ISY (removed wifi network from within UD Mobile.) TEST SYSTEM ON LOCAL NETWORK works but do I want to check that setting? If I check “Only Use Local Connection” then the “Remote Connection Setting” block turns red (and doesn’t work.) My theory is, why associate a wifi network when the iPhone already is on the wifi network and the ISY is wired on the network? Thanks.

SQL error on UD Mobile when I try to sync
Actually, I killed off the wifi network associated within UD Mobile and I think that resolved it. The ISY is running on a static local IP on the house network. i have use ISY portal enabled. Local connection settings are correct and the “Only Use Local Connection” is not checked.

SQL error on UD Mobile when I try to sync
This always happens on wifi. Cell data I do not experience this. The firmware error is incorrect. I have 5.3.4 (which it says on UD Mobile screen.)

ControLinc just clicks when pressed and spaz's out when you try Factory reset
Actually, I do have them, but in a slightly larger size. I think they will clear the space in which they sit when the board is screwed in. I'm going to give it a shot.

That wasn't my post - that was user Matapan. But I'm reading your notes to him. His would not power up. Mine will power up and stays up - at least the LED is on. But pushing any button or trying to do a factory reset do not work. Unfortunately I do not have either of these two electrolytic caps in had to replace. But I think I will give those a try and just see what happens.

Has the same black mark on back of board as I've seen in another thread. I think that was an overheated zener diode if I recall. Note sure what the the cylinder is between the two electrolytic caps is. No markings on it. I believe the other unmarked cylinder is the piezo buzzer. Changing electrolytic caps seems to be the common trend.

Push any button and it's "click-click-click..." and factory reset is even worse. The unit does blink on Insteon traffic from other devices. Any clues on how it might be repaired? Thank you

RemoteLince 2440 woes
I wonder which device was used for actually linking it - given that you were away from devices.

RemoteLince 2440 woes
I tried that...I put the ISY994i in linking mode (did not put the RemoteLinc in discovery mode) I went downstairs to the basement. Pressed the DIM and BRIGHT buttons on the RemoteLinc. Held it near a 2477S and the 2477S flashed some red LED's at the bottom of the LED pipe. Not surprised, it didn't link.

RemoteLince 2440 woes
I tried going outside - no luck. This unit is a Rev 1.0 which probably doesn't help.

RemoteLince 2440 woes
What is "IoP" ? (I don't know that one ?) I'm curious how far outside you needed to go? I was going to try turn off all computer "stuff" after work ends and see if that helps in any way. i.e. any interference caused by the computer equipment possibly causing the problem. I really like the look and feel of this unit. I hope I can get it working.

RemoteLince 2440 woes
I know many people have tried to get this item to link - I am still unsuccessful. I always end up with a: The following devices could not be added 2440 RemoteLinc v.00 - Cannot determine Insteon Engine Is this a lost cause for my unit or do I just need to keep trying like others have done? I have tried holding it close to the PLM as well as 40 feet away. (LED does blink when I hold DIM and BRIGHT) at the same time. I do see some LED activity on the PLM when it's held closely to it. I read that this take a lot of bytes to transfer over the air but the entire house is filled with dualband devices so I would think, perhaps in correctly, that I have enough air space to get this done. Any ideas? Thank you -Ray

LIB_ERRORS-403 after replacing and formatting SD card
Cancel that...I had to create an account on Oracle - maybe that's what turned me off in the past. Now I have: 1.8.331.09 (x86_64) "Oracle Corporation" and 1.8.0_292 (x86_64) "AdoptOpenJDK" Thanks again MrBill!

I did not know that. I thought Oracle basically abandoned Java 8. Can't even download the version for MacOS without getting it through a 3rd party app (brew)

Is there any known app to configure Insteon Cams for wifi?
There is this for anyone who might have the same problem: https://cache.insteon.com/documentation/2864app-windows.zip You can download via this direct link but if you go through the Insteon page - even though it gives that URL which you can access directly - it won't take you there. Change "windows" to "osx" for the Mac version - but you need a Mac with a very old OS version installed. I'm curious if the windows version will run on anything new - I'm guessing you will need Windows XP. I'm going to ask my kids if they can try running this app on their latest and greatest Windows machines.

LIB_ERRORS-403 after replacing and formatting SD card
That's awesome - thank you again MrBill. But about these java updates that spoke of...I thought the ISY994i could only run under java 8? I would love to be able to run it on the latest java version - which would prevent me from having to setup aliases to set the appropriate java_home env for when I have to do something else that requires the latest version of java. If you (or anyone) has things running on a version other than Java 8 - please tell me who you did it - that would be an amazing improvement.

Is there any known app to configure Insteon Cams for wifi?
Yes, a number of people have said that they were Foscam rebranded. But interestingly, there was this one person who claimed that he spoke to Foscam directly and they stated that they did not make the guts for the Insteon cams. Who knows, maybe this Foscam person thought he had a clue but really didn't - I see that every day. Within Synology Surveillance I can add them as the appropriately mapped Foscam model and they work just fine. But I can also choose "generic cam" from the list and they also seem to work just as well. But again, I had already configured their wifi addresses via the old Insteon app. One theory is that Foscam is using some common (Chinese perhaps) low level parts and that many cam companies use the same thing. One guy has mapped out the Insteon models: LD, HD, indoor, outdoor to a particular Foscam model and I just follow his table. (But again, I had already configured their wifi settings.)

Is there any known app to configure Insteon Cams for wifi?
I only used the Insteon original iPhone app to configure the wifi on the Insteon cams. - Hard reset the cam. - Plug in power with Ethernet cable attached - Run the original Insteon app since the "better app" (using that term lightly) has no cam support - Add the cam and then run through the steps so that it will connect to wifi (This is the part I don't have.) (From this point I use either Owlr or Synology Surveilance...never the Insteon iPhone app.) I do have an old MacBook Pro that can still run the Insteon Cam firware updater - if I get one that is not up to latest. I only use these Insteon cams when they come my way - they are not my favorite but the HD model is still pretty decent. Thanks

LIB_ERRORS-403 after replacing and formatting SD card
Thank you!!! Another missing step is to re-download the "ISY Launcher" java app - clearing the java cache deletes that (and leaves your shortcut pointing at nothing.) I'm still not really sure if I should be using the "ISY Launcher" (shortcut with UD shield) or "ISY994 Administrative Console" (House with Globe in background) or the "admin.jnlp" (just a coffee cup) ? From my experience so far, the "ISY Launcher" gives me 3 choices: Admin Console (LAN), Admin Console (Cloud) and Dashboard and the "ISY994 Administrative Console" does not give you any choice and just launches the console. I always go to Admin Console (Cloud) via ISY Launcher Another launcher I found in my travels is "dashboard.jnlp" - starts the java vm but then dies with no error. Thank you again!
