  1. Okay, that makes sense as to why it was not working. I'll get that setup I guess. It should work with the older hub right? Thanks for the help.
  2. No, it is not his electrical system. It was the insteon devices. They all sucked. I have had almost all of mine replaced also. The new ones are now holding their own. You do know there were a lot of bad insteon switches that were made don't you? These switches didn't just fail overnight or all at once. One would fail here and there, and if I actually look at it, probably more than a 2 year period. We would replace them with standard switches since we could not get insteon anymore. He then realized he wanted switches he could control, and got the Lutron. Not one problem with the Lutron has happened. All of his Lutron switches have been running fine for the last 2 years since he had them replaced.
  3. Ok. I get exhausted looking at all this new stuff coming out. If I keep the hub for the system, where do I install the HA for integration? Do I need to get a whole other PC or something? Can I use a synology nas and use the HA in the synocommunity? A lot of stuff to look at for sure. Thanks.
  4. So, are you saying that no hub, no isy and using the HA with Alexa is much better and more dependable?
  5. I am not really familiar with HA. When you say HA integration with Alexa, are you referring to when using the hub? That is above my pay grade.
  6. Great suggestion. Great minds come up with great ideas. You see, I didn't think of that suggestion. Thanks again MrBill. You are always thinking. What would I do without you. Is the new isy upgrade, not sure what it is called, a good move. Would you say moving to an isy format compared to a hub is a better move for him?
  7. I have been out of the game for a little while now since insteon took a nose dive. My whole house is insteon. I have an isy994i/IR Pro (1110) with UD994 v5.3.4 firmware. I have rarely had any issues with my system and do like it. When insteon was in chaos, I kind of pushed everything aside for the time being and hoped I didn't have any problems with any of my products. I was lucky, and nothing did happen, but the guy that I had put in over 30 switches and wall lamp modules has had over half of his products fail in the last 2 years. Well, he had an electrician install about 2 Lutron caseta switches, so he now has about 10 insteon switches left, with about 20 of the Lutron ones. He is needing 2 more insteon switches replaced, plus 2 more regular switches taken out and replaced with either an insteon or Lutron switch. He is also needing some lamp modules too. He is very leery of the insteon stuff since he has had such a high failure rate. How can I convince him other wise? I would like to use insteon since I am more familiar with it. Any advice. The issue that I see with his insteon stuff is that it no longer seems to work with alexa anymore. Is there something I'm missing? He has the insteon hub and no isy994. Is there something that I don't know about with the hub since all the insteon fiasco happened. The guy I am referring to is a quadriplegic and the more automation the better, as long as it works. I try to help him out as much as I can as he is a a good friend. Any advice or pointing in the right direction would be great. Thanks so much.
  8. Ok. Interesting on the percentage via ISY that you talk about. I have never done that before with LED. Is there a place where I can go to find out more about how to do this percentage with LED? Thanks.
  9. No, a dimmer is what I want in this spot. I am sure the load is greater than the 5w listed above.
  10. I guess it would have helped to put the switch 😏 2477D. The load will be more than 5 watts for sure, but probably under 20.
  11. I am planning on replacing my under cabinet lighting which are xenon lights, with LED lighting strips. It will not be pulling a lot of watts so I was curious how many watts the switch needs to use in order to work properly? Thanks.
  12. Until the electric bill comes due. ?
  13. Is this really true?
  14. Well, that looks like a much easier way. It works like a charm. Great minds like yours come up with great ideas. Thanks.
  15. Right. So if I go in and set a static on the ISY, my router will see the address. I will then set it to a fixed ip in the router, go back into the ISY and change it to DHCP. Does this make sense? That way I get the lower number I want in my address list. Silly, yes. Will this work? Thanks.
  16. Just a little OCD on my part, but I do like certain clients on my list to have lower ip addresses. Weird I know, but I still would like to do if possible. Is this something I could do? Take and make my ISY994i static, set the address in my controller as a fixed IP address, and then turn my ISY994i back to DHCP for future. Would you do this if you had OCD? ?
  17. Where can a person buy a Serial PLM today? Actually the KPL is mine. He has none, but he uses Alexa to run his lights that are on insteon switches. She no longer works with the hub. I think the hub was reset in all of the chaos that has gone on as of late. If we can't find an alternative that would work with Alexa, then new switches are mandatory.
  18. I didn't even see that. Thanks.
  19. I have several questions. I may have missed an answer because I didn't get a chance to read all of this because of a time crunch. Is there an alternative device for the KPL switches that insteon used? What about the insteon dimmer modules? Switches? This is the time crunch question. I have a quadriplegic friend that has insteon switches and modules along with a hub. If I get an ISY994 for him, how do I make it communicate with the insteon products without a PLM? I need to get something up and going for him so he can gain back some ability to control lights etc. Thanks.
  20. With the closing of smarthome, is someone taking over the insteon product? If not, what does the future hold for insteon users?
  21. Yes, I did that. I kept getting a message it was unable. I finally had to do revouninstaller and get every little bit of Java out of my computer before it would let me clear my cache. I finally got it to work.
  22. Okay, so I'll just forget about the old way. My firmware and UI both match at 5.3.4
  23. So, the only thing that I seem to be having problems with, is the ISY Admin Console shortcut. The one from step #8. The ISY launcher works fine. I have to click on the ISY Admin Console shortcut 4 times before I can get in. The first 3 times it says it is unable to launch the application. The 4th time it says it is downloading, and the 5th time, I get into the console. I know I can just use the ISY launcher, and will. I just need to know what I'm doing wrong as to why I can't get in easily through the ISY Admin Console? Thanks.
  24. I had to uninstall and reinstall Java. It now works kind of. The firmware and console now match. When I do step 7 of the instructions, I can get to the isy. When I do step 8 to launch directly from the isy, it works once, and then won't launch from that anymore. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
  25. I upgraded, but I can't get my admin console to match my firmware. I have tried following the directions, but when I clear the Java cache, I get an error unable to uninstall applications.
