  1. Thank you that is good news. I completely understand this and thought this might be the case. I'm optimistic on this one because of the large Hue user base and the Official Developer program with Philips, but Philips Hue can be cost prohibitive. @bpwwerI just noticed the title line in your signature and knew I had seen your name in the Node Server store. It made me go look to see how many! WOW! Thank you for all your contributions!
  2. Totally agree thats how I did mine the second time! @Hoosier Daddy my digging for a better understanding was based more off your question about wondering if a developer would update the app. I am definitely in favor of supporting the developers on node servers when the MS adds value to our daily lives/automations. This NS seems to be the type that adds value to me, but it is a free NS which I appreciate, but the development time comes at some cost whatever that is. The cost would be different to each developer and some might just feel rewarded for helping out. @Hoosier DaddySince the developer has acknowledged in his notes that is a known behavior, what else would you like to see out of the node server? Also, will this Node Server be maintained over time? Does UDI ever pick these up and maintain in house? I'm mainly curious before I begin to depend on this NS too much as I don't have much invested Hue at the time, but I'm in more of a test mode. My biggest challenge is the mapping of the scenes to the generic names, but I noticed in the Node server logs that my custom named Hue app scenes are in the logs, just not in the Admin Console for ISY. Overall I think its a very functional Node Server and the ability to set custom colors and temperature is a much welcomed option without the simple color palette. I also saw some other discussions where folks use the Network Resources to trigger the Hue scenes. My understanding was they were using NR for this because when they updated their scenes on the Hue app the scenes in the ISY needed to resync in some way and it was easier to just edit the scene in Hue for spouses and other family and calling the unique scene name in the NR was reliable.(Maybe this is resolved now???) I was able to edit an existing scene's brightness level in the Hue app, and when I triggered the generic scene name in the Admin Console, I saw the new values when I triggered this scene with no syncing of the ISY and the Hue box. The one thing I would like to better understand is the expected behavior of the generic scene names and is this something that could be populated in the Admin Console(since I saw my scene names in the logs.)
  3. I keep doing some digging, to learn more and noticed on the Github repo for the PG2 and PG3 of this node server exking/xking(not tagging him as reply is not needed)has noted the following. Notes Poly assumes that Bridge IP address never change, so it is recommended that you create an IP address reservation for the Hue Bridge on your router. IMHO this is an accepted risk of using the NS.
  4. Totally agree. I have been switching different routers over the years, but recently went back to DD-WRT. After Insteon Hubs went red, I wanted a good router that I KNEW I could block the outbound access out to the Internet for certain devices. I decided to make the router part of my design and not an afterthought of my home automation needs. I'm documenting the reservations outside of the router and saving backups. Ironically after reading this and going to set my DHCP reservation, I fat fingered and keyed one digit higher in the last octet. ?...I was able to easily identify the error in the logs in the NS and changed my DHCP reservation. I'm testing Home Assistant as well and have had some mixed results when IP's changed....some integrations did good others not so much. What I don't want is to loose the DHCP lease during day to day use and loose connectivity. In the past I set static IP addresses, but that can be a pain when there are network changes and trying to get everything back online. This thread has been good for me as it pushed me to dig into my Hue lights and get the Network Resources set up along with the NS. Thanks to everyone for their past work documenting and commenting to help me get over those humps.
  5. Something to help with those types of issue is to use DHCP reservations. I have been doing it on all my devices that connect to each other. I had just gotten started testing Hue so your post caught my eye and reminded me to set up the reservation for it as well. ?
  6. Thank you for the clarification. I missed the reference to the module.
  7. It might be worth asking about compatibility with UDI support, but when I got mine it got shipped with a Zooz stick which I have seen in stock with other companies.
  8. @RossThank you for the response. I was able to get the KPL buttons working with a program. I turned the toggle feature off and set the button to only send the off command. I use the program to monitor for the Off command. The off command takes away 3 from the variable for volume down and adds 3 for volume up. With Z-Wave functionality in the same system I did consider the approach you mention, but with the Zooz Zen34. I am moving away from the Insteon Mini-Remotes(because of the non-serviceable battery) and only using them when I need a direct link, like to control a switch in a bedroom that is on the wrong wall. I will keep Insteon trigger devices like that and motion sensors when I want to get the direct link capability. The Zooz Zen34 should serve the same functionality as an Insteon Switch when using a program. Its got a more options and support for a lot of scenes natively without using variables.
  9. This is a really good point. With the Hub I only got what was available, which meant less thinking through things. UDI/ISY/Polisy gives so many more choices, I wished I had bought it years ago, but I'm realizing now I can think through those habits and have a better set up. Huge paradigm shift from the Hub mindset.
  10. Thank you I was able to get this working with a state variable. I got past my original clunky idea and am comfortable with the implementation. Works great in my initial testing. Now you have me rethinking my original design, but this is a good thought. I have been entertaining a different design. In my garage I dont always have my phone and its a convince, but its a great point, I'm not sure how often I actually adjust the volume. To both of you. Thank you very much for replying. I always learn a lot from both of you in other posts and appreciate your contributions to the community.
  11. I'm working to replace my Insteon Hub functionality with Polisy and Node Servers. The last piece seems to be my Sonos control in my garage with a keypad linc. The KPL makes a great controller since I don't always have my phone with me and I typically have 3 stations I listen to, need volume up/down adjustment, and play/pause. The Hub was a bit of black box on controlling this but it just worked for my setup(was also aggravated at Insteon when they announced the new app wouldn't be able to configure the Sonos integration). I have the volume buttons on my keypad and they could adjust up/down with the hub(sometimes a little lag or missed a command, but totally functional). Is there recommended way to set up my volume buttons? I have some ideas about using the programs with Polisy, but my idea seems a little clunky. Is there a recommend way to trigger the "Sonos Favorites"? I have 3 buttons on my KPL for presets. I'm leaning towards a program, because my initial test of configuring this a scan failed(but later looked and the node server was not started, so my test wasn't valid).
  12. I don't see how this could be related to the upstream Internet. Since you can get to the Login page and successfully see the console, but the devices are showing as "check connections" that eliminates the IP network side(horrible DSL or Starlink). Insteon connectivity is a different "network". Since you checked the PLM and it is recognized that should not be the problem unless you have a PLM problem at the same time as the change to Starlink(I think this coincidence would be pretty unlikely). Maybe someone with more experience on the ISY/Insteon side can chime in, but when I saw you didn't have a reply yet, I wanted to eliminate the change to Starlink. Will be watching this thread as I'm interested what the issue could be.
  13. Thank you very much!!
  14. I'm working with ST-Sonos as well. Nice idea for the fade out for the music. I have gotten the TTS work. Does anyone know where to load the custom MP3 for the "Clip" audio?
