  1. All of my Motion Sensors show up as unsupported devices. I tried adding them from the administrative console, but no joy. Do I have to manually add them as I did originally, by holding the set button, etc.? Also, the Module option section on the Configuration page is gone. Do I go to the help section and purchase? Joe
  2. Michel: Would full functionality for the Motion Sensors fall under the category of i2 support? Also, is the EZIO2x4 part of the IO support? Joe

    WeatherBug

Rumor has it that I may be getting a fairly sophisticated weather station for Christmas. Is there any plans for the "Weather" function in the ISY to include local weather from a home weather station? And if so, which brand would be supported. I particularily like the Davis product line. Joe
  4. Going back a page in this thread. My sunset programs are now working. I changed my location to a nearby default location and they didn't run. Michel had taken a look at my programs, (bless his heart) and noticed that there was a path in my AWAY folder which is only activated when I'm on vacation. That is what was not allowing my Sunset programs to run. Now, I don't really understand that, but hey it's fixed. I would like to know why that would prevent the sunset programs from running, and not others. I did go through my programs as suggested on the latter part of page 3 of this thread, and found many things that needed attention. Many of us (especially me) wrote our programs when we first received our ISY. For me it was a year ago. I wrote, and wrote, more and more programs. As my knowledge of what was possible increased, I would test it. (Take a look at the "Good Night!" program near the end of page 3 of this thread...It really does work.) The catch is that the more we write, the more conflicts there could be. The concept for me is to have my ENTIRE house run off my ISY. I don't have as intricate installation as some of you, but every wall switch, lamp, TV, fan, HVAC, duct booster, garage door, etc. is Insteon controlled and linked to my ISY. With the introduction of the motion sensor (I have 3 installed, 3 being delivered on Monday, and 2 more coming) and the Insteon 2450 Contact Closure Interface, the possibilites become more intriguing. Sometime in the future, I'm looking forward to my home anticipating my actions and movement through it. If there is anyone who can design this type of application it's Michel and his group of geniuses at Universal Devices. [i'm looking into voice control but that seems a little unstable at the moment. Any suggestions?] My point is: We are lucky enough to be involved with a technology which is cutting edge (at least to me it is) and if anyone told me 10 years ago (right in the middle of my X-10 frustrations) that I would be able to control my home from anywhere, including my mobile phone, I would thought they were nuts. I don't know why, on a Saturday night while I'm watching Oklahoma beat the pants off of Texas Tech I decided to wax philosophical. I think one of the reason is that I consider it an honor to associated with this group of people on this forum. Everyone ALWAYS has a helping hand and a friendly explanation to those of us who ask those embarassing questions. (I am one for sure.) So in closing, thank all of you that have posted the questions, and of course the answers. I read them all, and have learned a great deal from all of you. Joe
  5. Michel: Thank you for your continued care for my situation. I know it's time consuming to go through the program list and I appreciate it. I disabled the firewall on the router (we'll see what happens), and YES it only happens on one computer. Of course it's the computer that is in the family room, next to the easy chair where at night, while I watch TV I work on my smart home. THIS could be one of the problems. I'll use a different laptop from now on. Duly noted. Some of these programs were written when I first started with Insteon and the ISY. I went through them too and I was embarrassed at how they were written. Thank you for being easy on me. That device was a resut of a KPL which was air-gapped, then restored. It never occurred to me to fix that in the AWAY folder. Thank you! My wife LOVES Christmas! Agreed, it was the newbie syndrome (NS.) I understand what you mean. I've been careful to ensure that if a progam is written it is outside of other programs. I'll check this in depth. This program does work, but as you said it is redundant, and may interfere with other programs. When the sunset time changed the exterior sunset program woud run, and so would the Exterior OFF-1. I need to go through this folder and fix everything. Surprisingly enough it does. I was very concerned about this when it was conceived/written but with the waits in it, it seems to work. Here is the Good Night Program for those who are curious: If From Sunset To Sunrise (next day) And ( Control 'B-RL 4 (D)' is switched Fast Off Or Control 'EA KPL-B Watch TV / Goodnite' is switched Off Or Control 'Family Room ControLinc 1' is switched Off Or IR '34' is Pressed ) Then Send Notification to All Set Scene 'All Kitchen Lights 50%' On Set Scene 'HALLWAYS' On Set 'Laundry Room' On Wait 1 second Set 'Pink Pantry' On Set Scene 'EA KPL-B Watch TV LED Status' Off Set Scene 'EXTERIOR' Off Wait 3 seconds Set 'Master Bedroom Lamps' 60% Set 'Master Bedroom KeyLinc A' On Set 'Downstairs Theromstat' 71° (Cool Setpoint) Set 'Master Bath Light' On Set 'Master Bedroom Fan' 64% Wait 4 minutes and 30 seconds Set Scene 'Eating Area 50%' Off Set Scene 'Family Room 55% Daytime' Off Set Scene 'EA KPL-D Family Rm LED Status' Off Set 'Picture Frame' Off Set 'Fan - Family Room' 45% Wait 30 seconds Set 'Pink Pantry' Off Set 'Laundry Room' Off Wait 4 minutes Set Scene 'All Kitchen Lights 50%' Off Set Scene 'EA KPL-F Kitchen LED Status' Off Set Scene 'Kitchen KPL II "B" STATUS' Off Wait 2 minutes Set Scene 'HALLWAYS' Fade Down Wait 8 minutes Set 'Master Bath Light' Off Wait 7 minutes Set Scene 'Master Bedroom Nighttime Fade' Off Set 'Master Bedroom KeyLinc A' Off Wait 5 minutes Set Scene 'MB Christmas Candles' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') It really does work! I am going to look at every single program and with eyes and a mind which is a year older. Michel: It's difficult to put into words the appreciation I have for your dedication to your product and those who use it. Thank you for your continued patience. Joe
  6. Will the ISY fully support the I/O linc 2450 (http://www.smarthome.com/2450/I-O-Linc-INSTEON-Low-Voltage-Contact-Closure-Interface-1-In-1-Out-/p.aspx) and if so when? This product seems more in line with my garage door open/close/indicator application than the EZIO 2x4. What with the memory issues and all. Joe
  7. More frustration; Here's the latest: Every time I launch the Administrative Console EVERY ONE of my dimming devices read 0% on level and 9 minute ramp rate. If I query my lighting, they all read properly. When I close the Administrative Console and reopen, all the dimmers read 0% on level, and 9 minute ramp rate. The My Lighting page will show which devices are on, and at what level, but when I click on a specific device it shows 0% - 9 minutes. Oh, and another thing. Each time I launch the Administrative Console, the thermostat is set on an arbitrary setting. Eg: Program Heat, Setpoint 78; then the next time Cool, Setpoint 62. I do not have these settings in any program. Once I clicked on the thermostat icon and I watched the Thermostat setting change from one setting to another. But...I love this hobby... Joe P.S. This is a repost: One more thing, I have a 10 minute Thermostat Query. Each time I restart the Administrative Console I have to restart that Query.
  8. Hmmmmm.... I changed my location to Indianapolis, Indiana (a defaut location)...only a + 7 min difference in sunset. Will report back tomorrow with the results.... Joe
  9. Hi Jim: Just out of curiosity, are you using a default location or is it custom? Joe P.S. Mine is custom.
  10. Michel: Is there an issue with the "Sunset" timer function. My Sunset programs still won't fire. Joe
  11. Redrox: No issues, let me know what happens. Joe
  12. Hi Redrox: I am in fact using the insteon dimmers to control my fans. They've been installed for more than a year and I never had any problems. Joe
  13. We have a wood stove that heats our entire house during the winter. Of course the family room where the stove is located is always warm, sometimes too warm as the bedroom is always 10-15 degrees cooler. The stove has blower on it and the family room has a central air return near the ceiling, and a ceiling fan. The fan is switched to force the air up in the room. Ok, the stage is set. These simple programs have been very effective in distributing the heat throught the house. Even in the bedroom where the difference now is 5 degrees. The concept is that when the family room is too warm the fans fire and cool the room pushing the heat into the return (and uptairs aided by the master bedroom fan) where the furnace fan helps to distribute the heat a little more evenly throughout the rest of the house. This program is designed to fire all the fans when it gets too warm in the family room. The "too warm" is subjective, so whatever your comfort level is, set the trigger temperature accordingly: If Status 'Downstairs Theromstat' is 72° (Temperature) Then Set 'Fan - Family Room' On Set 'Downstairs Theromstat' Fan On Set 'Master Bedroom Fan' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Then, when the temperature has stabilized (to your comfort in whatever room(s) you require) this program runs: If Status 'Downstairs Theromstat' is 70° (Temperature) Then Set 'Fan - Family Room' 45% Set 'Downstairs Theromstat' Fan Auto Set 'Master Bedroom Fan' 45% Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Now your family room is a comfortable temperature, and the rest of the house a little warmer. Notes: 1. The Master Bedroom Fan is also set to draw the air up. 2. All temperatures are subjective. 3. You need an Insteon enabled theromostat. (It would be best if you had one in the heat destination room.) 4. Fan Auto in this case is really Fan Off, because the thermostat is set to "Mode Off." 5. As the Thermostat fan goes off (Auto) the ceiling fans drop to 45%. This allows the heat to keep circulating throughout the house. 6. The ISY is set to query the thermostat every 10 minutes. (Other wise the ISY will not know the temperature and your programs will not run.) So you know that the furnace fan will run at least 10 minutes. Enjoy, Joe
  14. Michel: After literally hours and hours of trying different things with my ISY notifications, putting in 72.14.253.109. . . WORKED!!! Now on to the rest of the issues in earnest! Joe
  15. Michel: I followed this: Should I have done something different? Joe
  16. "Request Failed"
  17. Michel: Is it ok if I try this too? Joe
  18. The Static IP page of the router (I have a static IP assigned to me by my ISP) has 255.255.255.252 on that router page. The ISP told me to put that in there. The ISY has a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Which one should I change? I'm a little shy to change what the ISP Expects. Joe
  19. Michel: Thank you fro your prompt reply. I don't know they are just not there. I have a export of them ready to import so I will bring them back. No loss, but very curious. Joe
  20. Well...here's a good one: When I launch the Administrative Console and I click on either one of the Program Tabs, there is no program information where it should be...It was for a while, but not now. First the sunset programs not working now this. I'm starting to think about reverting to 2.6.7. Of course I'll try a reboot. (For the program issue, not the sunset issue. The sunset issue has prevailed through 7 reboots...so far.) Joe
  21. Darrell: I checked the DNS server of the router (I have a Linksys WRT54GSV4) and there are two DNS servers listed, l tried both of them and it didn't work. I DID notice one thing though: The Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.252 and the Subnet Mask in the ISY IP Config is 255.255.255.0. Would that make a difference? And if so, which one should I change? Joe
  22. Mike I tried your suggestions; didnt work. I've had some other issues with this ISY for several months. I don't want to get into it on this forum, but Michel and I have been trying to work through several issues (communications, memory mapping, wierd things happening with programming, and program execution) and I have a feeling that this is related. Joe P.S. Thank you for all your help.
  23. Mike: I changed the DNS Server to my router address: 192.168.1.1. No joy. I'm very frustrated over this. Everything I do SHOULD make it work but.... In the "Settings" part of the Gmail account I have the POP enabled and the IMAP as well. I ended up disabling IMAP and nothing seems to help. I am at a loss... Thanks for your help. Joe
  24. Michel: Yes, I do have a static IP and it is 192.168.1.110. I "entered" my way down to the DNS Server entry in the telnet and put in 192.168.1.110. The telnet then asked me the Y/N questions and I answered Y to all and the ISY rebooted. Tried the email again and no joy. ("Request Failed") Do I have to close all browsers and clear the Java Cache? I DID go ahead and checked my gmail account just in case...no email there. Joe
  25. Michel: Don't worry about the tardy reply...I know what the travel thing is like. I have a static IP thru my ISP and the Router has assigned 192.168.1.110 but it does not show in the status table. Where am I assigning the DNS? (Which would be 192.168.1.110) Sorry for the incompetence factor... Joe
