That's great to know... at least a couple of us learned a few things playing with this.. odd though to me you didn't set for 25 seconds momentary hold? Insteon hosts it's own forum where you can post suggestion for improvement direct to the manufacturer however... some of the needed development seems to be on the UDI side but I think hindered by Insteons tight grip on things. Jon...

It seems both the sensor and relay can be added to the same scene. I'm thinking both "momentary c" and "relay follows input" need be deselected. Yes, same would be true for sensor in scene with relay.. a MS would work but the beam sensor would need to be a trigger for a program. Jon...

Did you have "relay follows input" checked when you tried? Jon...

Unfortunately... he is I'm confused... ISY won't allow creating a scene with both the sensor and relay in it? Do you have a MS handy to test with the relay? Jon
-
That's not true.. I have motion sensors that trigger programs that respond almost instantaneously... Jon...

i think then I'd use the IOLinc's sensor as a trigger in a program and save the Micro for something else.. problem is the person (or animal) would likely be halfway up the stairs before the light turns on Jon...

will the "momentary hold time" remain in effect? Jon...

For now try "0" for momentary hold time... Jon...

The original query was "Triggering IOLinc Relay with IOLinc Sensor." Select "Relay follows Input" and "Momentary C" Jon...

The IOLinc is still confusing to me My understanding... it's two devices in one.. i.e., two nodes.. the sensor is indicated by 1 following the address. They act independently unless linked using "Momentary C." Jon..

I think it returns to it's previous state. We've had a couple outages recently and I don't recall having to turn back on the aquarium (I'm pretty sure of this Jon...

Any custom sheet metal shop can fabricate. The lip height varies... 2" would probably do. If it's on wood floor you can drill through and use standard kitchen sink drain for 18 gauge (if you don't mind putting a large hole in your floor.) I put mine on a piece of plastic. Jon...

Install a keypadlinc.. you'll have control of the lights you want on all the time and 4 other options Jon...

So how do you dissipate load related surges? This video explains the surge generator used and why 6,000V with 3,000A Jon...

What causes electronics to fail? I would think it's not only destructive surge but repetitive exposure to high voltage transients. My understanding is 80% of household surges are generated on the load side e.g., motor starting. Jon...

How do you connect any internal wiring to earth ground? Doesn't it all go to "safety ground?" Second.. the Surgex video claims to prevent damage to surge at the point home wiring would catch fire. Lastly, Surgex calls itself a "surge eliminator" in that it does not discharge but magically absorbs the surge. Jon...

Also curious as to whether you're suggesting type 3/4 surge protection unnecessary? Thanks, Jon
-
Oops.. I stand corrected however, looking at the demo you'll see a typical MOV fail where the surgex unit survived. don't you think that significant or is this simply a deceptive sales gimmick? Jon...

6,000V X 3,000A X (?t) = approx... 180,000 joules ok.. time was unknown so I guessed Jon...
-
So you don't believe in "layering" surge protection? Jon
-
No, they were applying 6,000 VOLT surge.. maybe 180,000 joules? Jon...

I've looked into SurgeX/Zero Power WVR (Spectrum Wide Voltage Range) technology but haven't purchased anything yet. Jon...

I'm talking specific devices with manufacturer and model for line, load and point of use.. I don't see anything in any of the posts recommending any device. Jon...

The Syncrolinc is limited to 15a... I think code requires the dryer be on a 20a dedicated circuit but I don't know about Canada.. Jon... Edit.. that should be washer rather than dryer

Well.. what do you recommend for external and internal protection? Jon...
