    Wired Sensors

I think I'd install a new control panel ($48 http://www.amazon.com/VISTA20P-Ademco-Zone-Control-Panel/dp/B000H05W9C ,) a hardware interface ($119 EnvisaLink 3 http://www.eyezon.com/?page_id=176 ) and then use HonLink (courtesy of io_guy) http://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/80-honlink/ to communicate with ISY. With a new control panel I think you have more future options.
  2. This simple explanation should be added somewhere (Wiki/Faq's) so that it's easily accessed... I didn't understand I needed to add local control as I was using sensors via programs but recently added level adjustment to a device with only local control and found it wasn't working the way I had expected. i.e., major points.. add device as controller, in program add scene adjustment and local adjustment. Thanks, Jon..
  3. Why not come directly off the float switch connecting a relay in series and feed that to an IOLinc? Jon..
  4. I have two RemoteLincs (2440) that I'm unable to use... apparently no longer supported...
  5. That's probably why I'm seeing so many NO magnetic switches and so few NC...
  6. That's good to know.. even though I have the SECO-LARM SM-226L-3 (NO/NC) on the way I needed to clear that up in my head Thanks, Jon
  7. I guess the bottom line here is I would need to use a NC switch for the IOLinc to see the sensor as OFF when the garage door is closed?
  8. Thanks, after your reply I took the time to Wiki "reed switch" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reed_switch and it basically says the same as you.. normal state is when no magnetic field is present. Jon
  9. Ok.. that's really confusing I would think the normal state for the sensor is where both magnets are together? if that's true then if both magnets are together a normally open contact should be open (no current flow) in that state? There's also the issue with the circuit... a normally open circuit is true when there is no continuity? a normally closed circuit is true when there is continuity? I'm not certain about any of this but the switch I have now is closed when together (continuity)... I'm calling that normally closed and my I/OLinc is telling me the sensor is ON (true) in that position so it seems to me the circuit of the I/OLinc is normally closed?
  10. Thanks for the info and the pic.. I had looked at the SM-226L-3 on Smarthome's site before but read it was floor mounted and not seeing any dimensions I envisioned it much larger.. I see on SECO-LARM's site it's only 4 3/8" x 1 3/4" x 7/16" which is less in height than what came with the garage kit i.e., 4" X 1/2" X 1/2" Jon...
  11. I want to change out my N/C (circuit complete when magnets together) contacts that came with the garage kit for N/O (circuit open when magnets together) but am unable to locate one. I don't want to mount the sensor to the floor but overhead and would like similar in design to what I have (4" X 1/2" X 1/2".) If anyone has lead to this beast I'd appreciate a pointer to it. Thanks, Jon
  12. Not really knowing what it means.. "responding," I assume, implies the controller is ON at any level? Thanks, Jon
  13. Hi Tim, You might open a ticket with UDI http://www.universal-devices.com/contact-support/ to help resolve this.. Jon
  14. The following thread may help.. http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/10712-cannot-backup-isy-could-not-retrieve-file-conf172prp/?p=86768 Note: change /CONF/172.PRP w/ CONF/80.PRP Jon

    UDI PLM?

    Yippee!! Jon...

    UDI PLM?

Ok.. found it @ http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/13866-repair-of-2413s-plm-when-the-power-supply-fails/?p=114874 . Good Info! Still.. I'd like to have the PLM dual-band now..

    UDI PLM?

This is great news considering all the issues I've heard with Smarthome's... I purchased a 2412s years ago and its worked well but I'm planning for the inevitable:)
  18. That's the Dashboard and not the Admin Console... see board posting http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/14420-release-4218-is-now-official/?p=120444 for info on how to download new admin console.

    UDI PLM?

Seems I've read something, maybe just a suggestion, about UDI working on a PLM... Any truth in this or just wishful thinking? Jon...
  20. I'll add my name to the list of those who would like to see this. Thanks, Jon
  21. Ahh.. I see.. Thank you LeeG.. Trace did show a message generated for Heartbeat so it seems it's working. My inquiry started with the program not writing out the entire name of the device and I've learned a lot along the way.. Thanks again, Jon
  22. I'm not certain how you traced "Heartbeat" because I've traced it using the set button and also activated it with water and neither gave me a trace on Heartbeat but I did get "wet" and "dry." So was that a 24 hour trace:) Anyway.. I'm using code supplied by "belias" and essentialy does the same thing but gives me email notification rather than turning all the lights on. (Dry Node) [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 2D.2E.19 00.00.01 C7 11 01 LTONRR (01) [std-Group ] 2D.2E.19-->Group=1, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=1 [D2D EVENT ] Event [2D 2E 19 1] [DON] [1] uom=0 prec=-1 [ 2D 2E 19 1] DON 1 (Wet Node) [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 2D.2E.19 00.00.02 C7 11 02 LTONRR (02) [std-Group ] 2D.2E.19-->Group=2, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=1 [D2D EVENT ] Event [2D 2E 19 2] [DON] [2] uom=0 prec=-1 [ 2D 2E 19 2] DON 2 <Dehumidifier - Variable Control 2> If Control 'LS - Dehumidifier-Heartbeat' is switched On Or Control 'LS - Dehumidifier-Heartbeat' is switched Off Then $sLeakDehumidifier = 1 Wait 25 hours $sLeakDehumidifier = 2 Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') <Leak Sensor Problem> If ( Time is 9:00:00AM Or Time is 6:00:00PM ) And ( $sLeakDehumidifier is not 1 ) Then Send Notification to 'Jon Erlandson' content 'Leak Sensor Problem' Send Notification to 'Pamela Erlandson' content 'Leak Sensor Problem' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I guess I'll just wait until tomorrow and see whether or not I receive the notification after setting it off several times today. Thanks, Jon
  23. Is the purpose of Heartbeat to signal the state of the sensor (working or not) and work as an "out of range" or "low battery" alert? I've tapped the set button and don't see any change in state (on/off) to heartbeat when looking at the device but I am receiving the alert so I guess from that heartbeat should be working?
  24. Yes, it seems to have been my naming was too long. I had used "Dehumidifier Leak Sensor" and tried various combinations but "LS Dehumidifier" allowed "Heartbeat" to be written out in full. By "software" I'm assuming you're refering to ISY version (4.2.5) and not OS. I'm using XP f that makes any difference.
  25. I've just learnt there is a limit to the size of the name given a device or it cuts it off. I hadn't seen this limitation before but that seems to have been the problem. My original name was "Dehumidifier Leak Sensor" and I had tried various combination of names apparently all too long but "LS Dehumidifier" allowed "Heartbeat" to be written out in full. The version 4.2.5 is ISY but my Sensor only shows v.00. I'm linking using "new insteon device" and selecting the sensor [10.08] And I did receive the ISY email alert "A problem has been detected with a leak sensor. Details Below:" but I imagine that was triggered by my testing "wet." Is there a good means of testing "Heartbeat" that doesn't take 24 hours?
